21.01.2022 Wow! Have just seen the cover of my new book coming out in January my first novel, an historical fiction, Elizabeth & Elizabeth. It’s the story of a friendshi...p between the two leading women of early colonial Australia, Elizabeth Macquarie, the Governor’s wife, and Elizabeth Macarthur, the woman who helped found the country’s wool empire. Their husbands were bitter enemies A big thanks for designer Christa Moffitt for such a gorgeous illustration. #writingcommunity #books See more

17.01.2022 Two incredible women, an unlikely friendship, and a united mission to save the lives of some of the world’s poorest and most desperate women. Healing Lives reve...als the untold tale of Mamitu Gashe, the protégée of Dr Catherine Hamlin, and the inspiring decades-long friendship between the two women. In 1962, three years after Drs Catherine and Reg Hamlin arrived in Ethiopia, an illiterate peasant girl sought their aid. Mamitu Gashe was close to death and horrifically injured during childbirth after an arranged marriage at the age of just fourteen to a man she’d never met in a remote mountain village. The Hamlins’ Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital saved her, and Mamitu would go on to dedicate her life to Catherine’s mission. Under the iconic doctor’s guidance, Mamitu went from mopping floors and comforting her fellow patients, to becoming one of the most acclaimed fistula surgeons in the world, despite never having had a day’s formal schooling. This is a story about the power of compassion, giving, and an unlikely friendship, that will capture your heart. #HealingLives #catherinehamlin #MamituGashe #suewilliams See more

07.01.2022 Potentially excellent news!

05.01.2022 WORLD AIDS DAY 2020 Today marks World AIDS Day, a time for us to honour those we have lost to an AIDS-related illness, to stand with people living with HIV, and... to raise awareness of the possibility of ending HIV transmissions globally. I graduated as a doctor in the 1980s, so in my early years of practice I saw the emergence of this new epidemic and its devastating impact on our community. There were friends we lost and those who survived. The community worked together to provide practical support and in many cases to become virtual family for people with HIV-AIDS. Today I would also like to acknowledge the incredible success of Australia's public health, research and clinical efforts to overcome the virus. I am proud to be a Patron of ACON Pride in Health + Wellbeing program. We can't gather together this year is the way we could in previous years (so this photo is from last year's gathering), but please, consider today the need to consolidate our efforts to provide accessible treatment and to eventually eradicate the virus with the added challenges of the #COVID19 pandemic. 02.01.2022 Interesting article and not surprising. Type 1 diabetes mellitus is often triggered by a recent viral infection. More data is needed!

01.01.2022 "The benefits are unrivalled."

01.01.2022 100 years ago that insulin was extracted from pig pancreas, meaning that type 1 diabetes mellitus was no longer a lethal disease
