24.01.2022 Let's learn the basics of events. Over the coming days we will post footage of the basics of events in an effort to assist our athletes to learn. Shotput... Georgia from our U13 was happy to film herself at home doing the most basic of standing shot put throws. There are a few myths with shot put. The first Being that we do not point to the sky. The lead arm is power arm and where the speed and force of shot put is built. If you watch the videos you will see it all starts with preparation. Standing in the correct position with back foot grounded and front foot heel off the ground so it can turn (not locked sideways against the wood, where the ankle cannot turn). Hold the shot put up above the head. Then lower and load into the correct position, resting against the neck. Elbow out. Turn back to load up muscles through your tummy and feel your quad (big muscle on top of leg) go hard as it loads. Using your lead arm which is bent at the elbow, twist around and in an upward motion. As you come up and turn the hips will rotate slightly and lock in a forward position, the chest will come through and lock also, so that the shot put arm fires the shot out perfect as a shot put, not a throw. Remember the power is in the front arm coming around. You want that elbow to be out wide and powerful to turn fast, so the arm holding the shot put fires. There is a lot more technical information, but this is the basic throw we want the younger ones to learn by. Thanka again to Georgia being willing to film herself for the younger members.

20.01.2022 We hope Santa brings some extra special presents to all of our athletes in the form of visiting Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, Cousins,, Family and freinds that we did not get to see as much this year. Have a wonderful two weeks rest. But remember, if the Line Marking Machine keeps training during the break, so can you. MERRY CHRISTMAS... From all of our Age Group Leaders, Starters, Officials, Assistants, Committee and of course, the Line Marking Machine.

20.01.2022 Our U9's showing us what it is to have fun and freindship aths style.

19.01.2022 What a beautiful morning. Happy New Year to all of our athletes. We hope you had a fun night and enjoy the sunshine over the next week (and maybe some training on the fresh lines at the track), because Aths is back on Friday 8th January.

09.01.2022 Tomorrow night (Friday Night) sees Little Athletics return to Southern Peninsula. We hope you had an amazing Christmas and New Year break and are looking forward to getting back onto our beautiful grass track venue. We know many families may be away over the next few weeks, so we ask our parents to continue to jump in and work together.... Our centre has become a wonderful family orientated and involvement centre and we have you all to thank you for that. See you tomorrow night.
