25.01.2022 Happy Tuesday to all of you in self quarantine and social distancing! We've gotten some inquiries about delivery options this week. At this point, we are wanting to take some additional time to see how COVID19 unfolds in Sydney as we have two little ones at home. 24.01.2022 For those that have followed us for some time, you know that Tyree and I (Tracina) and our family are Black Americans from North Carolina. The last few months have been full of ups and downs. Tyree's whole family came to visit us in February. Amazing! My sister got a job in February and her husband and my 4 nieces (!) moved to Sydney, fulfilling my dream to have my parents and sister in Sydney with me. Then came COVID-19. It has ravaged Black communities in America and took ...a family member from us in April. Then my dad's father, my wonderful grandfather who my youngest son is named after, died at the end of April, just one day after our oldest son turned 3 in isolation. Due to travel restrictions we couldn't attend the funeral in NC and had to watch it via zoom...We finally gathered the strength to bring the business back in May. And then Breonna Taylor was murdered. And now George Floyd. This past week has felt so heavy. Being so angry at the inhumane assaults and murders and the behavior of our despicable, so-called president. Being so proud of the courageous protestors and also praying that a COVID-19 spike doesn't come from this. Being concerned for extended family and dear friends in the US that are unemployed or those being forced back into work during a pandemic when the virus still out there. And on top of it all, working thru the fear that comes with raising our beautiful Black boys in a world that is so unfair and unjust to Black people, indigenous people and people of color all over. I didn't want to do ANYTHING this week but then I realized, if nothing else, this is an opportunity to share part of Black culture thru our food and an opportunity to help protestors that have been unjustly jailed in the US. 23.01.2022 Are people still doing Woman Crush Wednesdays???? Or am I old and it's showing ...Anyway, mine is my mom, Tina (center in pic). I was so unwell with an ear infection this past week and she came through in the clutch to make almost all the food and didn't even argue with me too much when I was bossing her around from afar (She HATES it!). To my sadness, sometimes I forget how great grandma or aunties made a certain dish and I have to use my best judgment for authentic flavors. 21.01.2022 Website is open for orders for this weekend! We will have pickup at @treatdreams in Rozelle on Saturday from 1-4pm and Sunday from 1-3pm. We will also have delivery from 4-8pm on Sunday. The menu will be the same as last week except we will also have ribs and our amazing new lasagna on offer Seriously this lasagna will change your life so get in before it sells out Last but definitely not least, thanks everyone for the support and encouragement last week. 20.01.2022 Orders close for Friday delivery tonight (Thursday) at 8pm. They close tomorrow (Friday) at 8pm for Saturday and Sunday pickup at @treat.dreams in Rozelle. Be sure to get your orders in soon! For next week, what do y'all think about us adding fried tenders and cauliflower??. We could fry them up fresh same day for pick up/delivery and y'all could reheat at home in the oven. They wouldn't be 100% as crunchy as fresh from the heaven but they would still taste . 17.01.2022 There are soooo many things happening in our first country today, but I want to recognize that today is Father's day in the USA! We are so blessed to have my Daddy in Australia now and honestly Southern Soul likely wouldn't even exist without his early morning assistance to Tyree preppinf for markets or his late night motivational talks to me (whether I wanted it or not). 35+ years ago, He left @jamesmadisonuniversity to raise me with my wondeful mom. And although he went on ...to play for the Harlem Globetrotters and professionally in Europe, he ALWAYS wanted to finish his degree. 30 years later it happened and my grandfather, who passed in April, was on hand to witness it with pride. My Daddy always says that it is NEVER to late to change your life and accomplish your goals. I'm feeling so blessed to have so many fathers in my life that love and guide their children on Earth and also those that have passed and continue to inspire us as our wise Ancestors. First, we are only allowed a single stall versus a double stall. Due to that space limitation we will only have one hot item (Southern Fried Tenders!) on sale from 11am til sold out. Cornbread will be available as well. Otherwise, we will be selling cold stored packs of mac n cheese, ribs, and shepherd's pies that ...you can grab on your way out of the market and reheat at home.
