23.01.2022 We don't need to tell you how crazy this year has been. You’ll notice that celebrations and activities usually occurring at this time of year will be done diff...erently. Including remembering our COVID-safe behaviours and following Public Health advice. Celebrations and activities will look different from school to school based on its size and the facilities they have available. But please remember the most important thing is keeping each other safe. Whatever your school has planned, please support them as they try to hold these special celebrations safely. #LearnersFirst #TasGovEducation

21.01.2022 At South George Town Primary School we want to develop the skills for students to be successful life long learners. For example, we encourage creativity and open-mindedness by supporting children to be thinkers and not just to follow the crowd.

19.01.2022 Yesterday our Kindergarten students received their Bouncing Back - Talk and Read bags. These were provided by the Department of Education with the aim of supporting parents to assist their children talk, read and play everyday. Right from birth, talking to your child is helping to build the connections in their brain to help them learn. Reading is a skill for life that begins when a baby first looks at a picture in a book. Active play helps children build skills in movement and learning. Our Kindergarten children were very excited to receive their packs. More will be given out very soon to our Launching into Learning (LiL) families.

16.01.2022 At South George Town Primary School, over the next two weeks, we will be looking at the concept of kindness as the Positive Behaviour Support focus. This is part of the YMCA Project Y George Towns Opportunities for Kindness initiative which is linked to 2020 Community Kindness Awards from Keep Australia Beautiful. 2020 has been a challenging year and it is timely to think about kindness. Staff and students will be looking at how acts of kindness impact on our relationships, as well as how being kind can assist us to improve our on our own self-worth. We ask parents to talk to their child about what being kind means and ways they can demonstrate kindness.

11.01.2022 Our Positive Behaviour Support focus for week 7 comes from the learning column of our behaviour expectations matrix. We all need to use our initiative sometimes and having the confidence to do so is a vital skill. Initiative is the ability to use your judgement to make decisions and do things without needing to be told what to do or the ability to judge what needs to be done and take action, especially without suggestion from other people. Please have a talk with your child about ways they can use their initiative.

10.01.2022 A BIG congratulations to the following students from Kinder to Year 2 who have received Merit Certificates. Keep up the great work We are very proud of you

03.01.2022 Before we know it, the school year will be finished and Santa Claus will be gearing up for his busiest night of the year. This week, we're launching a series of weekly tips to help make this transition time easier for your child and your family. 02.01.2022 We’ve had an awesome time at our very first Dad’s night! It was great to have so many Dads and their kids come for a play and pizza. Was great to see you all here, and we look forward to having you all along again soon.

01.01.2022 As the year draws to a close we are continuing to focus on our school value of learning. Children learn best when they are calm and settled and prepared with everything they need from breakfast to equipment. Being organised is a great skill to develop and one that families have a huge influence over. Staff and students will look at what it means to be prepared for learning this week.
