17.01.2022 This is just one of the many amazing stories of powerchair footballers. Thanks to FIFA and the Irish FA for showcasing our sport and what it can do for powerchair users. Feel free to contact us or Powerchair Sports Victoria if you know someone who'd be interested in playing powerchair football. #PowerchairFootball Disability Sport and Recreation Football Victoria

17.01.2022 It's great to see our club planning on the resumption of football activites. Here at SMPFC we continue to work with the team at Powerchair Sports Victoria on what #PowerchairFootball will look like in the near future. We are hoping the start of the Victorian Powerchair Premier League set for August can be achieved.

09.01.2022 This article is a great read and provides a bit of history into South Melbourne FC.and their professionalism. The players, coaches and supporters at South Melbourne Powerchair FC thank South Melbourne FC for their support of us and the sport of Powerchair football in general. "With the A-League taking a privatised approach to ownership since its inception, a potential National Second Division could lead to the rebirth of community models in Australian football."... https://www.soccerscene.com.au/can-south-melbourne-fcs-succ

09.01.2022 An update from the South Melbourne FC President Nicholas Maikousis

07.01.2022 Whilst we always have a competitive focus, the development of our players is a big priority at South Melbourne FC. Gavin Thorneycroft is an international athlete having competed at Asia and Oceania Championships and the World Championships in Boccia. He has transitioned in sport to being a goal scoring machine in Powerchair Football and has been a stand out over the last year. At the recent Hall of Fame Cocktail Function, he was recognised as the Most Improved player in the ...club. Congrats Gav!! #SMFC #SMPFC #AllAbilities #PowerchairFootball Powerchair Sports Victoria

04.01.2022 Some great commentary from Adelaide United's Director of Football Bruce Djite on #QandA talking about grassroots football. In his tweet he recognises #powerchairfootball as being one aspect of the game which makes football the most inclusive of sports. 03.01.2022 A thank-you message from our South Melbourne Powerchair FC star Angus for all the support they have received from the club and our senior playing groups over the past month. We love having you part of our club Angus!

02.01.2022 One entity that won't be investigating the possibility of relocating the Mariners licence is South Melbourne. "We've had a few meetings at South regarding [CCM]... as late as last week," South Melbourne President Nicholas Maikousis told ESPN. "Quite frankly, [we're] not even that interested in [CCM's licence]. With all due respect, you don't know what you're buying anymore. We would contemplate if it was given to us and relocated to Melbourne, but our focus is on a National Second Division -- getting that up off the ground. We're throwing all our resources towards it. "I don't think the A-League understands we can breathe life into the A-League by having a NSD. The only way to unite the game is by the creation of a NSD. That will bring everyone back into the fold because after 16 years of the Lowy experiment that simply hasn't worked either. "So, for us, I think a more traditional tiered approach to football is the right way and the club's focus is purely on a NSD." Full Article on ESPN https://bit.ly/2DLrEOZ
