From this carnival Ben was selected in a 14 man squad to represent the WACA U15s at a National Championship tournament in Victoria this February. An outstanding achievement for Ben , including his 102 not out on the 2nd day of trial. We wish him all the best.

24.01.2022 It was mixed results for the South Perth female cricketers last weekend with both A Grade and B Grade being bowled out for under 100 whilst chasing down 130+ scores. Meanwhile Youth League finally started their 40 over campaign and with some enjoyable success. In A GRADE: Emily 3/31 (incl. a catch), Chloe 2/5 and Cassie 2/11 (incl. a catch) were the pick of the bowlers, restricting Midland Guildford to 135, bowling them all out.... Unfortunately South Perth struggled with their batting performance, and had to take the crease a player down (due to illness) with the highest score being Emily with 12 before being bowled out for 89. in B GRADE: South Perth struggled to break the opening partnership, however once one batsman fell, a few other followed. Pick of the bowlers was Samn 2/22 (incl. a diving catch) and Tyler who finished 2/33 with Melville posting a score of 6/168. Batting again, was the downfall of B Grade, for the second match in a row, with the team being bowled out for 58. Tyler was top scorer with 17. in YOUTH LEAGUE Youth League had much better fortunes and welcomed their return to competition after Christmas with a comfortable win under their belt. Subiaco Floreat posted a mere 69 all out, with some superb bowling performances from Ella D 4/4 and Loren 2/10 (incl. a direct hit run out). South Perth then came out firing and it wasnt long (10th over anyone?) before the Youth girls had successfully reached their total with Sienna R finishing with 29* Well done Youth League!

21.01.2022 Plenty of Runs and Wickets were taken over the weekend but their was some huge performances from some of our players Ben Middlemas batting his way to the win for the Under 17’s, well supported by Captain Alex Wenban taking 5fa Emily Hessell batting her way to 64 for a great win in B Grade... Zac Petersen and Tom Murray combining for two 114* to get a big win for the Under 15’s Sam Szigligeti making a 102* carrying the bat to the win for the Under 13 boys in their first game of the season #skyblueandgold

20.01.2022 Womens Update: A GRADE: With A Grade having a bye on the weekend and no longer in finals contention, our hopes rested on our B Grade and Youth League teams to qualify for the upcoming finals.... B GRADE: B Grade had a tough ask, playing Melville at Richo, starting a ripe old time of 9am because of the World Cup Final scheduling. In the away league earlier this competition Melville had won convincingly and our squirrels needed to beat the undefeated team, if they still want a chance at qualifying for the grand final next weekend. Melville won the toss and decided to bat. Our girls picked up an early wicket, however Melville started to dig in and start piling on the runs. Some excellent bowling from our 4th, 5th and 6th change bowlers ensured that runs were hard to come by, with Melville barely increasing their score for a good 12 overs. This translated to frustration and Sinead was on a hat trick ball twice, eventually finishing on 4/11. Melville finished their innings with 9/130. Our girls started off fairly well, only losing one or two wickets and scoring at a comfortable rate, before Melville began to pick off our middle order in quick succession. Poppy Stockwell really dug in, and played a patient innnings, coming in at number 4 and managing to stick it out to the very end finishing on 41*. What seemed like an achievable target after our desirable start, seemed like a difficult challenge, when our last batsman came in, with our girls needing 13 runs to win. With too many potential runs outs, Poppy and Cindy needed 6 off the last over, eventually hitting the winning run with only 1 ball to spare. B Grade goes into their last round game this weekend with some determination against Rockingham at Lark Hill, knowing that a win would secure them a place against Melville in the Grand Final next week. YOUTH LEAGUE: The Youth League girls headed down to Rockingham for their final round match, needing a win to secure themselves a spot in the Grand Final this week. Rockingham won the toss and sent South Perth in to bat. Our girls got off to a great start with Monica showing some class and posting 80 runs of her own, and putting on a 77 run partnership with

04.01.2022 R U OK? - 2020 has been a whirlwind of a year. But its most important that we stick together and check in on each other frequently. Asking someone if theyre ok could mean the world to them or even save a life. South Perth CC would like the wider community to know that at anytime, if youre not feeling ok, there are plenty of people at our club who love to just chat about anything. Heres a link from @ruokday of a short but moving video explaining why today is such a signi...ficant day and why it is crucial to check up on your mates. - https://www.youtube.com/watch #bleedbluetogether
