23.01.2022 This week’s local Fishing Report At Jumpinpin this week, good catches of summer whiting around the Slipping Sands, Canaipa Passage and Squire Island. Plenty of flathead throughout the Pin area and around Jacob’s Well and good bream along Millionaire’s Row. Here at Southport good catches of flathead around the Seaway, Crab island and the Aldershots. Summer whiting in the Nerang River, Coombabah Creek and on the Centre Banks out from Seaworld. ... Vis around 5-7 metres and Saturday should be the best day before the northerlies kick in. Photos: 1. Nice haul of dart caught on the beach at South Stradbroke. 2. Kerrie caught these quality whiting 38 and 39cm north of Wavebreak. On a sad note, we lost one of the fishing fraternity’s best last week with the passing of Skipper Casey Dent. Casey skippered our charter boats in the 1990s and was an integral member of the Sea Probe crew. He was a respected skipper, fantastic fisherman and a beautiful soul always with a huge smile. 23.01.2022 This week’s local Fishing Report This week some nice whiting over near the Marine Stadium. Further in the Nerang River good catches of whiting at night around Monaco Street Bridge and the Council Chambers. Flathead around Crab Island, South Straddie and Jumpinpin. Sand crabs out in front of Runaway Bay Marina, Ephraim’s Island and Parrot Rock. Mud crabs showing up in creeks around Tippler’s & Jacobs Well & Brown’s Inlet. Danny, Glen and Colin hooked up some nice tail...or, bream and dart in the Surf on South Stradbroke. They were trying out throwing lures with their new Wilson Blue Steel fishing rods and that made all the difference. Danny finally broke his mulloway drought and caught a nice 12 kilo on the Seaway. Squid still around - try the western side of Crab Island. #shoplocal #goldcoast #fishing #diving

23.01.2022 This week’s local Fishing Report Up Jumpinpin whiting on Greenbank and along Caruso Island. Nice bream along Millionaire’s Row. With the full moon last night, tailor have been biting well on the surf beaches Main Beach, Narrowneck, Philip Park and Stradbroke. Also some really good quality dart as well.... For the luderick fishermen, the Seaway seems to be the best spot. School mackerel have shown up in the channel from Seaworld to marina Mirage and plenty of squid out from Runaway Bay, Gold Coast Bridge and Grand Hotel Jetty. Also if you can deal with all the weed, plenty of sand crabs out from Runaway Bay and Paradise Point ..... but be warned, the weed is full on! Out on the reef some good catches of snapper 36 and 50 fathoms east. #shoplocal #goldcoast #fishing #diving

22.01.2022 This week’s local Fishing Report Up the Pin, bream along Millionaire’s Row, Tiger Mullet channel and eastern end of Caruso island. Flathead in Jacobs Well channel and around Tulleen and Tipplers islands and tailor in the Bar. Here at Southport, dart, bream and some tailor have been caught at Northcliff, Main Beach, Narrowneck and Phillip Park. There has been some really good gutters forming along the beaches. Good bream and flathead in the southern end of South St...radbroke along the North Wall and also around Ephraim and Sovereign Islands. Winter whiting on the Centre Banks and doggy mackerel and luderick in the Seaway. There has also been a couple of nice size mulloway taken in the Seaway. Squid are still the latest craze being caught throughout the Broadwater, Wavebreak Island and Grand Hotel. Bream and flathead in the mouth of Whalley’s Gutter and around Tulleen Island and still a few sandcrabs around as well. Here at Southport good squid around the Seaway and on the week banks. Tailor and dart along the surf beaches and in the Broadwater on the top of the tide.... Vis on the Seaway 5 to 6 metres. #shoplocal #goldcoast #fishing #diving

17.01.2022 This week’s local Fishing Report Up the Pin good catches of bream on the snags along Millionaire’s Row, on the end of Caruso and in Tiger Mullet Channel. Flathead around Tipplers Island and in Jacob’s Well Channel. Here at Southport, squid around Wavebreak, the Grandy Jetty, Gold Coast Bridge and along the southern end of Straddy. Good bream in the Seaway and plenty of winter whiting on the Centre Banks. ... On the reef a few cobia starting to show up on the close reefs. Howard family patriarch Nev caught a 25kg cobia on Wednesday not bad for an 89 year old! Would have been interesting to see him getting that one in the boat by himself! Some nice squire and trag on the 18s and 24s as well. Divers: fantastic vis at 12 15 metres in the Seaway and on the Scottish Prince. #shoplocal #goldcoast #fishing #diving

16.01.2022 Thanks Danny - you really are a hunter and gatherer with a fair bit of farming going on. Hot and sour soup made from this years prawn season - supplied prawn shells for stock, from your garden - chilies, coriander, tomatoes, shallots, limes (frozen from old house), chicken - oh that’s a fail - harvested from Coles - fish balls harvested from some poor fish - no the local Asian shop - Mulloway caught locally and poached in leftover hot and sour soup and garnished with your chilies and coriander. Will keep you around for a bit longer. YUM

16.01.2022 This week’s local Fishing Report Earlier in the week, those that braved the elements were rewarded with nice sized dart on Stradbroke Island in behind South Currigee Campground. Plenty of chopper tailor have been caught at Jumpinpin just before the top of the tide. Some nice flathead around Crab Island and the Aldershots and winter whiting on Centre Banks. Squid are still around at the usual haunts Wavebreak and the Grand Hotel jetty and you should pick up a fee...d of sandcrabs in the Broadwater out from Seaworld. 11.01.2022 This week’s local Fishing Report Earlier in the week before the weather turned nasty, plenty of boats were out enjoying the Broadwater with flathead taken around Crab Island and the Aldershots. Those that braved the inclement weather later in the week were rewarded with good catches of squid around Wavebreak and the Seaway walls. Some nice catches of luderick from the Seaway as well. ... Tailor showed up at Main Beach, Narrowneck and Phillip Park but Northcliff produced the best quality fish. Beaches also fished well with some good sized dart and winter bream in the Seaway. 03.01.2022 This week’s local Fishing Report Fishing was a bit quiet last week but up the Pin some nice catches of tailor, whiting and flathead throughout the Jumpinpin area. Some nice bream along Millionaire’s Row and the crabs are starting to move as well, so worth putting the pots in. Here at Southport seeing some nice catches of whiting on the banks out from Parrot Rock and at Labrador. Sand crabs as well at Southport and Paradise Point and flathead around the mouth of the Coo...mera and muddies in Coombabah Creek.
