07.01.2022 A journalist was asking us about shampoo the other day. The question was: Is a very expensive shampoo better than a cheap one?. The best analogy to this is ha...ndbags. A $30 handbag probably wont be very good but a $100 handbag should do pretty much everything that a $5000 handbag would. Not to say nobody should buy a $2000 handbag because if you have the money you may get extra satisfaction from the brand name and that can be worth it. But it does the same function. Same with shampoo. If its very cheap it's probably mostly SLS and Silicone which can be irritating for people with sensitive scalps over time and drying. A good shampoo of around $20 can use more gentle cleansers and other ingredients for scalp and hair health if the formulators choose to include them. By the time you get to $40, the ingredients really cant be much different to a $20 one. So our advice is dont pay too much, but dont go extra cheap either if you are looking for long term scalp health.
