23.01.2022 I was physically abused and tormented by my father, and sexually abused by my uncle. I am a survivor of child abuse. When people called my father crazy, th...ey werent joking. Were a psychiatrist to assess him now, I think they would diagnose him with a personality disorder, an illness that went untreated all his life. The result of this for me was a childhood dominated with physical violence, ridicule, tears, and a life of misery. I was born in Orkney, Scotland, in 1956, the eldest of seven children. I was brought up suffering physical and mental abuse by a violent father who never acknowledged me as his son. My abuse started at age 4, when I was beaten with a leather belt, then hung naked upside down by my ankles in the dark on a cast iron coat hook on a door, with blood dripping from my nose on to the floor below, followed by being held under cold water in a bath until I almost passed out. I could hear him laughing as I thrashed about in the water before he hauled me out, only to continue the process again and again. The beatings continued as we moved from house to house, school to school, always managing to avoid the authorities. I was sexually abused for over two years by my adult uncle who shared a bed with me, then beaten senseless by my father for eventually daring to accuse him. I was forced to eat my sisters vomit, then lick my own blood from my fathers boots. He rubbed my lips against the steel toe cap, until I could barely speak because my gums and lips were raw. Beaten with the bristle end of a sweeping brush, as I cowered in bed. Stripped by my father, and forced to dance naked in front of my siblings when I was in puberty. I was continually ridiculed and bullied at school, because I was dressed differently to everyone else. I could keep listing events, but it would go on too long. The beatings and sadistic torture continued until I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital after suffering a mental breakdown at age 15, having to endure countless sessions of torturous ECT therapy. Then after I was released back home, the beatings and humiliation resumed until I finally left home. I did not endure years of abuse as a child, to remain silent. Now, I am not ashamed of what I suffered as a child anymore. My story is not easy to read or even comprehend, but it is my truth and my right to tell because it happened to me! It took 58 years to accept that my past cannot be changed, and to finally let my past go. TELL SOMEBODY. I suffered most of my adult life which has affected my mental wellbeing, always thinking I was not good enough, and once attempting suicide to be set free. TELL SOMEBODY, a friend you trust, a teacher, a doctor, somebody. My autobiography Stanleys Coat is available on Amazon at: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00XPDQZW6. Dont suffer in silence, it is not your fault, set yourself free! Child molesters, please stop. Parents, talk with your children. Survivors, seek therapy or counseling.
