24.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL SPARK No matter where you live, we can always help your game. Here is professional tennis player Antun, who lives in Croatia. We started working together 4-5 months ago and all of our sessions have been online on zoom or Skype! In this drill, we had organised for him to do the Spanish X drill, which is deep and short. However, the main focus here was getting to the ball as early as possible to hit it at its peak. Notice the loading of his outside leg on both forehand & backhand, the little steps to adjust his footwork as he gets closer and the footwork patterns he is using to recover or push off. Feel free to contact us no matter where you live to find out how we can add value to your game! #sparktennisaus #igniteyourpotential #croatia #atp #wilson #itf #macedonranges #tennis #tennisaustralia

13.01.2022 We just want to say a MASSIVE THANK-YOU to all parents and kids who came back to tennis this week ready to roll. It means the world to us that everyone who was previously in the program is willing to support our small business during these uncertain times. Also, welcome to all the new Spark students and families, we are so grateful that you’ve given us the opportunity and chance to impact your child’s life in a positive way. The highlight of our week was hearing the kids... laugh regardless of how they were hitting the ball. The extreme effort put in from the parents who have been completely thrown off their normal schedule to adapt to changes that we have implemented due to COVID-19 and last but not least, the amazing committees at South Gisborne, Romsey & Lancefield Tennis Club for allowing us to get back to what we love doing so quickly and efficiently. You can be the best coach in the world, but if you don’t have an amazing community behind you, it’s almost impossible to achieve your vision. So, thank you to everyone who has supported us in the past and continues to support us. You have our commitment that we will continue to grow as coaches’ to make sure we bring great value to all of those that we are blessed to coach. See you all next week! Your Spark Coaches, Andrew, Jeremy, Steve, Lee & Mario #sparktennisaus #igniteyourpotential #macedonranges #community #passion #tennis #tennisaustralia

10.01.2022 TALENT Quiet often I get asked the question- Does my Daughter/Son have the talent to become a professional? There are many factors that come into play when you’re trying to reach the top in your field that are both in and out of your control, I’ve seen it far too often and I’ve also done it myself where you tend to focus on factors outside of your control instead of focusing on what YOU can control. ... Talent is a word that gets thrown around far too often and we tend to get distracted by it and worse, the individual gets distracted by their own talent because everyone around them keeps talking about it. Talent is not all there is to achievement, nowhere near it. You should nurture it, not use it in a self-destructive way that makes you believe you’re more extraordinary then others, or even worse use your talent as a cop out to not practise as much because you believe you can get away with skill set you currently have. You need work even harder on the things you can control: work ethic, attitude, self-talk, curiosity, diet, who you surround yourself with and many more. My answer to the question when I get asked is this- It depends how many times they are prepared to get back up after they’ve been knocked down, how hard are they willing to work when no one’s watching, how hungry they are to learn and how good can they get at blocking out the negative noise and believing in their own pathway. Change the questions you ask, instead of asking is there enough talent, ask how can we maximise what we’ve got and you’ll open your own life up to endless amounts of opportunities. Do your best each and every day. Maximise what you’ve got. Be prepared to get knocked down and how quickly you bounce back up is in your control. No matter what profession you’re in, you should always consider the importance of effort. Have the best week everyone! #sparktennisaus #tennis #tennisaustralia #mindset #journey

05.01.2022 FOLLOW YOUR PASSION One question I get asked quiet a lot is How are you so passionate about what you do and how can I find what I am passionate about? My answer never changes- I am lucky to have found my passion from a young age, which was playing tennis, but as I got older and more mature, I realised that I loved helping others and watching them grow into the best person they can become, which led me into coaching and then starting Spark Tennis. But, a key lesson throu...ghout most of my playing career was that I didn’t make any money for a very long time playing tennis, I just loved setting goals, training hard to achieve them and competing. Now looking back, I can see that chasing my passion and dream without earning any money shows how much I loved what I did and it helps me get through the dark days because even to this day I use that exact same burning desire when I coach. Whether you earn a lot of money or very little, it should never stop you from chasing your passion because our time on earth isn’t for a very long time. You need to enjoy what you do; you need to love the tough days because its only temporary. My second answer to how do you find what you love doing is this- You need to ask yourself am I willing to work for free for as long as I need to before people can start seeing the value in what you provide? If you can’t, then it’s not what you ultimately love because if it is, you’ll find a way to make it work, even if you have to get a second or third job! In saying all of this, most people are afraid to start because they are worried about being judged by their friends, family or even people they don’t know. Don’t let the judgement of others stop you from being you, even if you have to walk away from certain people. You will always be judged regardless of what you’re trying to achieve. Keep pushing and challenging yourself everyone. Don’t ever settle for anything less than what you deserve. If any of you ever need someone to talk to about anything, just reach out to us or call us. We are here for you. Much love to you all and we can’t wait to see you soon! #sparktennisaus #tennis #igniteyourpotential #macedonranges #journey #passion

02.01.2022 PROGRESSToday was a great step forward for Jeremy. We have been working hard on maintaining his court position & end range backhand footwork. You need to celebrate the little wins. We tend to be so hard on ourselves and critical of every little mistake. Celebrating the little wins will create good habits and it will shift your mindset. You’ll change the question you ask yourself. Jeremy is working extremely hard to get ready for the professional tour when tournaments resume! @bealey_o #sparktennisaus #igniteyourpotential #tennisaus #journey #mindset
