15.01.2022 BLOG POST // Have you ever asked your teenager the reasons why they have done something and you are met with the reply I don’t know? Chances are, they do not actually know the reasons for why they have just said what they said, why they had that emotional outburst or why they have just participated in that risk-taking behaviour. 14.01.2022 THANK YOU MR DARREN COX // Mr Darren Cox is a confident and inspiring leader who has been involved in education for over 24 years. We have been blessed to have him as our College Principal. Through transformational leadership, he has developed our small country school of 250 students to be one of the most sought-after schools in the region now catering for over 1,000 students. Working as a Principal is a brave and demanding profession in which requires risk and change an...d Mr Darren Cox has been the epitome of this. Mr Darren Cox always has ideas percolating, building on the construct of how we can best serve our students. Darren is exceptionally talented at creating an environment in which school connectedness is at the forefront. Darren's humour and charisma have been a ubiquitous feature of St Philip's Cessnock life and often a catalyst to expressive enjoyment, and appreciation from students. Darren knows all of his students by name, he knows what sports teams they are in and he attends their games, he knows what musicals they're in and he is an audience member his presence has shown students that they count, that they matter and that they are of infinite value. Darren shows up for his students. Thank you Mr Darren Cox for everything that you have contributed to St Philip's Cessnock; for the lives you have changed and the energy that you bring. Words cannot begin to express how grateful we are for you. To Esther, Ellie, Zac and Lucy thank you. Thank you for standing alongside the mission and vision with integrity and enthusiasm, and for bringing your own value and your own vision into different areas of the school. You will be greatly missed. We are praying that this next chapter brings love, laughter and many precious moments spent with family. We have been greatly blessed by the Cox family. 14 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
