18.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country.... This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Australia has the world’s oldest oral stories. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. We built and engineered structures - structures on Earth - predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. Our adaptation and intimate knowledge of Country enabled us to endure climate change, catastrophic droughts and rising sea levels. Always Was, Always Will Be. acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future. Through ingenious land management systems like fire stick farming we transformed the harshest habitable continent into a land of bounty. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Our coastal Nations watched and interacted with at least 36 contacts made by Europeans prior to 1770. Many of them resulting in the charting of the northern, western and southern coastlines of our lands and our waters. For us, this nation’s story began at the dawn of time. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be.

11.01.2022 SMALL LANDSCAPING PROJECT - Can you assist? Our friends at Narnia Christian Preschool - Gosford are wondering if any of our families are landscapers, who have access to an excavator or backhoe, and would be prepared to volunteer an hour of their time to help with a small landscaping project please? The project would involve moving 11 sandstone blocks into place. They will be delivered to Narnia by the quarry, and we will require someone to move them into place. We would be forever grateful if someone could help us out with this project. We would like to have this completed on a Saturday morning, in the next month, if possible. Please contact Nadene on 4331 4471 or email [email protected] if you are available.

05.01.2022 Book Fair order update: For parents with outstanding items from their online Book Fair orders I have contacted Carnival Book Fairs this morning and requested that any items that they have received be sent to us as soon as possible. They are still waiting on two items which need to come from overseas which is why there has been a delay. As soon as we receive these items we will ensure they are given to students. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Mrs Belinda Bolger... Information Specialist Team Leader (Librarian) See more

02.01.2022 The Musical Hamilton has been brought to life for Stage 5 Drama and Music. Students worked on a 15 minute ‘Hamilton Medley’. Sadly due to covid no public performances could be done. Students recorded the vocals, then spent time filming their performance. This song "Yorktown - When the World Turned Upside Down" was shown at the Presentation Awards Event for Senior School. Mr Ryan and Mrs McManus are so proud of what they accomplished. (Please note there are some mature themes and language).

02.01.2022 As leaders in the Whole of Life Education, we are excited to share a wonderful new opportunity in Education Support for our Senior School students. We have eight wonderful Year 10 students that have signed up with St Philips to do a traineeship with us over the next two years. This is such an exciting opportunity for them and also for us as a school as this broadens opportunities. By the end of 2022 they will have worked hard, learnt invaluable skills and will have a Certif...icate 3 in Education Support. Last week is their first week of work and we must say that they have embraced all that has been asked of them. Well done to our Education Trainee students Grace M, Vanee C, Emily T, Isaac B, Ashleigh C, Kiara C, Madeleine M and Sebastian L!
