25.01.2022 2020 RISING STAR PROGRAM Unfortunately, our Rising Star Program for talented 16-24-year-old competitors will not be happening in 2020. It had already been pushed back from April to September due to the Olympics, but with that event now being delayed the venue space and human resources won’t be available at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.... Speedway Australia's aim is to lock down 2021 dates as soon as we can, but it won’t be until after the Olympic date is confirmed.

25.01.2022 GEE WHERE THE STARS FLY. Mitchell Gee withstood the very best efforts of defending champion Luke Oldfield to secure the biggest win of his burgeoning career The Queensland Sprintcar Championship on May 6 Ausdeck Patio's Archerfield Speedway... Gee who is a graduate of the 2016 Rising Star program staged an epic battle with Oldfield in the MUDDBUDDY 17 before a late restart gave Gee the respite he needed to focus on the Chequer Flag.... Gee piloted the Titan Garages #36 to a memorable win and put some shine to a mediocre season by Gee’s standards. Bryan Mann in the Driven Eagle No.16 was able to keep Series Leader and former champ Andrew Scheuerle from the podium in the sprint to the finish.

24.01.2022 STAR PRESENTS STAR 2018 Speedway Australia Rising Star graduate Liam Aunger had the pleasure of commentating and presenting the winner’s trophy to 2017 Rising Star PERFORMANCE RACEGEAR Drivers Driver recipient Rhys Heinrich at the TOP GUN Trophy event at the Mildura Timmis Speedway at the weekend. Rhys won the gruelling 40 lap feature event from regular rivals Anthony Beare and Jason De Goldi.... Liam a national SKAA Dirt Kart Champion is also considering a career path in Motorsport Commentary, a passion inherited and chomps at the bit to get his hands on a microphone whenever he is not competing himself. I have had the opportunity on a few occasions and really enjoy it. Heinrich, a former Australian Champion said it was one of the toughest races he had competed in but a thrill to once again swap the lead with Anthony. At presentation all 3 drivers declared it was the most fun they had had all season and it was a great ‘shake up’ for next seasons Aussie Title. 20.01.2022 ROLE MODEL As Brooke Etherden sets sail on her senior speedway career in Formula 500’s, she is making plans following her experience as a Speedway Australia Rising Star to role model the class that developed her passion and commitment for the sport of Speedway Racing Junior Sedans. What a week! I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to attend the Rising Star Program which was held last week at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. I learnt so much and have gained ...so many friendships that I hope will last a speedway lifetime. Brooke said. Etherden from Rockhampton in Queensland completed 6 seasons as a Junior Racer and feels she has the experience and the runs on the board to provide sound advice and mentorship for the current crop of Juniors. I hope I can do something with Juniors especially for the young girls. Brooke said. Brooke is currently enjoying her second season driving for Troy and AJ Josefski F500 team. The boys are working hard on rebuilding the car after a hard hit with the wall at Rockhampton Speedway the Saturday night prior to Canberra which resulted in major chassis damage. Attending Rising Stars provided the opportunity for Brooke to reflect on how much assistance she has received from so many over her 8-year career. It can often be taken for granted but in this case, it is not, so thank you for being there for the UPS and the DOWNS. Troy Josefski Bobcat and Excavator Hire, Kitchen Clearance Centre, MKS Towing, Lethal Race Wings, Slayer Race Engines, Rory's RC Hobbie House, Allied Parts Rockhampton, Signtek Gladstone and Ash Media Speedway Footage and Design are my current partners so next time you are in need, maybe one of our supporters will have the product that best suits the application. Brooke is looking forward to the SSA Australian Junior Sedan Title to be held at Northline Speedway in Darwin June 29 & 30. Brooke will cast an eye over the field of Juniors as she fulfils her role as cameraperson for Ash Media’s Speedway Sedans Live.

18.01.2022 EYES WIDE OPEN. For Karl Hoffmans of Brisbane in Queensland, his recent Speedway Australia Rising Star inclusion came as a bit of a surprise. I remember I didn’t give myself much of a chance when preparing my submission, but now I’m very proud of what I have achieved. Karl said. There was so much to absorb during the program and so much I can implement into my racing routine.... Karl is a second-generation Speedway Racer, son of Clem and Sharon and brother to Olivia, Karl began his Speedway career racing SSA Junior Sedans at Ausdeck Patio’s Archerfield Speedway. Karl is now in his rookie season of open sprintcar racing and has competed at Maryborough, Toowoomba, Archerfield and Parramatta. Hang on I’ll say that again, I thought I was going real hard in the Remax Colonial, Spanloc Toolboxes, Myla Graphics No. 3 COOL. Karl has inherited a love for a chat and the young rookie star loves nothing better than to walk the pits for a catchup. That’s what I love about Speedway, its great to catchup with everyone each weekend and I was particularly pleased to be at Rising Star with mates Daniel Cassidy, Randy Morgan and Aaron Kelly. The Rising Star program provided much valued confidence for the cheerful and friendly 6 foot something Sprintcar driver. I see more ways of approaching people now, I've learned I have something to offer and that most people are interested in what I am doing. Karl said. and I will be ready for a chat and a photo with any race team owner who is looking for a cheerful and friendly race driver to include in his team. Just Jokin!...I look forward to a chat and a photo with race fans before or after a race meeting. Karl smiled. Karl's next task is to tackle his recorded message on his mobile. "I learnt how important it is to a have a clear and deliberate message and that is something I have to attend too."

16.01.2022 TORN BETWEEN 2 LOVES. For Picton High Year 12 student Ethan Ethanol Brown, it’s a love of both sedan racing and open wheels that fires his passion to race Speedway every opportunity he can seize. At 15, Ethan began racing RSA Junior Sedans at Goulburn Speedway in NSW and now at 17 he is racing the No. 32 JAM Signs and Embroidery Compact Speedcar supported by Blakely Enterprises and Auto Parts Tahmoor with eyes wide open to go Wingless Sprint racing soon, then Midgets and 41...0 Sprintcars. The 2018 Speedway Australia Rising Star Graduate is described by those who know him as a compassionate and caring young man, on the flip side he is an adventurer, a hot dog that warms to a safe environment of a sedan but at a moment’s notice will unleash himself into the wild world of open wheel racing. I see myself as a caring risk-taker, smiled the unassuming Clark Kent of Speedway. Im most happy when I’m racing. Ethan is a second-generation racer, his family recently immigrating from England where his dad Stuart would compete in the hugely popular Banger Racing. (Demo Derby style racing to a chequer flag) I finished 5th in the 2017 NSW Compact Speedcar Title at Cullen Bullen, that’s my most gratifying result to date, but I’m also looking forward to what might be in the Wingless Sprint Division. I feel in Wingless I will gain more exposure, there’s more opportunity to race in the mainstream of Speedway. Ethan said. Ethan reveled in the opportunity to rub shoulders with 20 of Australia’s most promising Speedway competitors at the recent Speedway Australia Rising Star Program held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. I really enjoyed the opportunity to speak with Mike Nairn of Performance Racegear about keeping safe in my race car and I also took a lot from the sessions with Ben Bishop (Motorsport & WSS Commentator) Guy Thompson (Chair of Speedway Australia and the Australasian Speedway Promoters Association) and Wade Aunger (Aunger Motorsports Media Training) in regards to the respect of racing Speedway, including respect for myself and my equipment, respect towards my fellow competitors and their equipment plus respect to the administrators and fans of this great sport. Ethan is a member of Compact Speedcars of NSW and the AWSR of NSW and following on from his Canberra experience has made the decision to become a club ‘all-rounder’. I want to race hard, work hard for my club and commit to making this sport as safe as it can be for all to enjoy. What I get from this sport is a love for the safe environment and the friendly atmosphere I experience each time I go racing with my family. Ethan said. It’s the add-ons that Rising Star provides that has proven valuable to my future career. I will race professionally so I appreciate my position within the 2018 intake. I need to absorb everything that will make me a complete package for when I nominate at any event here or in the USA. Mitch believes his Rising Star experience will enhance his opportunities into the future. I can improve in many aspects related to racing and in my personal life including Fitness and Recovery, Public Speaking, Personal Presentation and the Psychology of Performance.
