20.01.2022 We just broke ground on the new job-creating ONE Subiaco project. The former Pavilion Markets site will be transformed by Blackburne Property Group - breathing ...new life into Subiaco. It's set to create up to 1,600 jobs during construction and hundreds more once complete. With construction now underway, works are expected to be complete in late 2022. We’ve worked hard to stimulate the housing and property sector and these initiatives have positive flow on effects into construction, trades and local retail. In fact, 80 per cent of the apartments have already sold with eligible purchasers benefiting from our stamp duty relief measures announced last year. This major development is going to have a positive impact on Subiaco and the surrounding community for decades to come. It’s projects like ONE Subiaco that will deliver a boost in activity and support WA jobs.

The heavy lift...ing from the local workforce and the WA hard border has shielded our State from the worst of the economic impacts from COVID-19. Its success even resulted in a major road project remaining on time and on budget despite the challenges of the pandemic - the Karratha-Tom Price Road. Today we officially renamed the iconic road to the Manuwarra Red Dog Highway. The name was first flagged by Kevin Michel MLA in 2017 and has been a popular idea with the local community. We also marked the completion of stage 3 sealing of the road. A 48km stretch of road which improves access to the heart of the Pilbara - giving more Western Australians the opportunity to explore what our great State has to offer. It’s a drawcard for residents and tourists alike to ‘Wander out Yonder’, and travel out in the Pilbara. Stage 4 of the sealing project is estimated to commence in 2022. Once finished, locals and tourists will have a sealed road from Karratha to Tom Price - Realising a decades long vision.

Expected Tasks: Performance of general asphalt labourer duties including: Level asphalt using rake and shovel. Dig holes/ trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, jackhammers, pneumatic tampers, or rakes. Load, unload, or identify materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans/specifications/Supervisor directions. Clean worksite removing rubble and other debris on site. Operate small tools such as jack hammers, vibrators etc. as directed to cut and remove patches as necessary. Application of crack fill material utilising a crack seal machine. Operation of screed board, bobcat, roller and paver as part of the asphalt crew with skill set dependent on role being applied for. Loading, unloading and floatage of plant and equipment to and from asphalt works project sites. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical including a drug and alcohol test.
