24.01.2022 I have really enjoyed working with young Carter. You can see when he came to me on the left his back is hyper extending and his bowling arm was very high, he also jumped in toward the stumps (as 99% of young spinners do) a lot. I suggested to him that we practice bowling down the line on the right and putting the target outside leg stump, essentially forcing his bowling arm to be lower and his run up and alignment straighter. You can see what a difference it has made to his... action on the right. Now it is all about repeating this and improving his muscle memory with easy to follow drills and exercises! 24.01.2022 I was lucky enough to play a lot of cricket with one of my best mates growing up. James Hopes (Redders as I refer to him as) was someone who I believed could have played 50 tests for Australia. His ODI record is simply outstanding and we both had a running battle with our batting as he generally batted 6 and I batted 8 and 9. We always wanted to make sure our strike rate and average was better then the other person. I certainly miss those days playing in the green and gol...d with this QLD legend. He is now assistant coach to the QLD Bulls and assistant with Mumbai. He is also an unbelievable golfer with a scratch handicap. For the record James finished his career with a batting average of 25 and a strike rate of 93.7. I finished with a batting average of 22.4 and a strike rate of 96.3. The strike rate killed him. . 19.01.2022 One thing I like to look at before looking to make any technical changes, is exactly how the ball is coming out. The ball comes out of Daemun's hand extremely well, so it's really about small changes to ensure he can still deliver the ball in the right area. I still remember you taking the catch for my first ever 5 wicket haul at the MCG. Ill never forget moments like you and Roy singing Enrique Iglesias at the top of your lungs in South Africa, or moments like watching you take on Wahab at the Adelaide Oval. Even the small things like chatting to you on the phone after you made your move to Tasmania as a 17 year old. W...e were all so happy for you. Ill also never forget how many times you used DRS. . 10.01.2022 Week 5 into our 12 week program and today was all about executing our deliveries and plans we had been working on while bowling to a batsmen. Today the scenario for us was we have come on in the 7th over and the opposition is 0-50. Markers are set where fielders would be and all players judge on runs scored vs wickets taken. I find that as a batting group, batting in the nets is done by just blocking a few balls and then slogging one on artificial. Then when the batters get ...into a pressure situation in the middle, on turf, they wonder why they can't rotate the strike or have the presence and patience to win the game for their team mates. Unless you actually train with a purpose, you are going to continue to make the same mistakes.
