22.01.2022 Here's what we found on P4 of the latest edition of The POST (Subiaco, Vol 4 No 2), 9 January 2021: Snapping into Action Members and friends of The Spirit of the Streets Choir were surprised when the discarded crocodile featured in Listening POST on December 12 turned up as a special scary guest at their Christmas party in St Alban’s Hall, Highgate, just a few days later. Choir member Christine Choo, of West Leederville, said it became the centre of attention and a delight ...for all present. She said the choir’s musical director, Bernard Carney, even wrote a song about it, God Rest Ye Merry Crocodile, to further the special sense of occasion. The Spirit of the Streets Choir is an inclusive choir for people who want to put the joy back in their lives through friendship and music. 21.01.2022 Our rehearsal yesterday was well attended as we reached near our maximum capacity of 70 people at St Alban's Church hall with spaced seating under COVID rules. After our usual chats over a cuppa and biscuit we got down to tin tacks and went through the song lists for our forthcoming gigs for the festive season. Our fist gig for the season is the opening of the celebrations for the anniversary of Shelter WA at Russell Square on Thursday 26 November. Then we are busy until Chri...stmas. Our public performances will include singing in the Hay Street Mall as part of 'Activate Perth' at lunchtime on Friday 11 December. Then on Friday 18 December we will sing with the St John's Choir and others in 'Lifeline Christmas Carols' from 6pm in the Oval at the University of WA. Please feel free to come to the public performances in which we are participating.

18.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CHOIR MEMBERS - ANNUAL PICNIC/BARBECUE/CRICKET MATCH has been cancelled Hi Everyone... Unfortunately due to the extreme temperatures forecast for next week, it has been decided to cancel the picnic/barbecue and cricket match on Tuesday 19th January at Matilda Bay. We are very sorry to disappoint you but it would be a health and safety hazard to continue with the match in the forecasted temperatures. Please do not go to Matilda Bay on Tuesday as we will not be there. Operations Committee Spirit of the Streets Choir 14 January 2021

14.01.2022 We had a great time at our Choir rehearsal yesterday attended by 66 people including a few carers! Wow! It was good to catch up with everyone before we started. A number of Choir members whom we had not seen for quite a long time were there. Welcome back. We were delighted to greet and wish Happy Birthday to Sally Hegotule, our percussionist who has not been able to attend for long time. We look forward to seeing Sally at Choir again soon. It was good to see and hear bass player Devo and Sally up front with Bernard as we prepared for an important gig at a Seniors' Village in Kalamunda. Thank you Choir members for your wholehearted participation in our Choir!

12.01.2022 RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS A Mid West man has taken to social media after a random man gave his mum a beautiful bunch of flowers while she was at the shops. Paul... Stoner said: "Just want to let people out there know that a middle aged man approached my old girl (Mum) near Woolworths checkouts on Monday afternoon. "He said 'that he just wanted to make someone's day' and gave her a lovely bunch of roses. Paul said his mum didn’t recognise this gentleman and he had this message for him: "To the complete stranger out there you made this little old lady's day indeed and [it] goes to show how good people in Geraldton can be and made me think why don’t we all just do a random act of kindness each day let the garden grow and pay it forward." 11.01.2022 Sing Along of the Day - Let It Be. Spirit of the Streets choir will perform this at our first concert of 2020 this week McCartney says He dreamed about his Mother, Mary. "She was reassuring me, saying, 'It's going to be OK, just let it be.' I felt so great. She gave me the positive words. I woke up and thought, 'What was that? She said 'Let It Be.' That's good.' So I wrote the song 'Let It Be' out of positivity.... It was the Beatles final single before McCartney announced his departure from the band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDYfEBY9NM4

10.01.2022 We had fun at yesterday's Choir gathering and rehearsal which was attended by 60 people. We welcomed back Dot who has returned from a long road trip/holiday. Devo and Sally Hegotule were there with bass and percussion. There were two birthdays, a joke or two, announcements and warm ups before we started seriously rehearsing our set list for our gig in Mandurah today. There was something for everyone at our rehearsal yesterday.
