Before you start checking under your bed, researching wine pairings or have any premonitions to watch Harry Potter let me tell you why disc herniations are not the serial-killer you think they are, but more akin to a casual shoplifter or loud but harmless in-law." 15.01.2022 Its that time of year again! The boys at STC are getting on board with the Movember foundation to help raise funds and awareness for men’s health. On average, men are dying 6 years earlier than women, and for reasons that are largely preventable. Our goal is to help start important conversations about health and wellness, and help bridge this gap. Our boys will be keeping you updated with their mo-numental facial hair, so please get behind them and donate at https://movember....com/t/sportstec-clinic?mc=1. #movember2020 #sportstec #canberra #menshealth #menshealthawareness #canberra #sportstec #physio

01.01.2022 Now that it’s starting to warm up (kinda ), a lot of people are jumping into sports they haven’t played over winter. Jumper’s knee (or patella tendinopathy) is a common cause of knee pain in sports like volleyball or basketball that involve a high amount of jumping. A Spanish Squat is a fantastic exercise to include as part of the rehab program for patella tendinopathy. A Spanish Squat is like a reverse wall sit, used to load the patellar tendon while minimising compression.... If done correctly, this exercise can reduce knee pain and decrease quadriceps inhibition! #sportstec #physio #physiotherapy #canberra #cbr #rehab #injury #recovery #kneerehab #spanishsquat Rio E, Kidgell D, Purdam C, et al. 01.01.2022 How’s your balance? As you age, losing your balance is common. Sadly, 30% of Aussies aged 65+ experience at least one fall every year. But thankfully exercise can help prevent falls and reduce the amount of risk factors. For example, exercise can help to improve muscular strength, balance, confidence and physiological factors such as mental ability and mood. ... A combination of both resistance exercises and balance exercises can help to reduce the risk of falls. #sportstec #physio #physiotherapy #canberra #cbr #rehab #injury #recovery #balance #falls #fallsrisk
