24.01.2022 ' "" "". "' 80 " "' "... " ' , " How many of us have said something similar to the above? I have uttered every single one of these phrases, and then some. The worst one was when I won a 80cm SJI Championship - I felt so proud, and then this small voice in the back of my head said " ' , ' 80". Today I'm here to tell myself and everyone else that we need to stop saying "only" and "just" when we talk about our efforts and achievements. We work damn hard. We show up in the early mornings, late at night, in rain wind and hail. We worry about our horses' feed, we get physios vets and farriers to mind and monitor them. We read everything on the internet to better educate ourselves, and we get lessons to become the best we can be. We care deeply about our horses and work hard to ride them the best we can. We ride and compete at a level that we are capable of, and that is safe for us to have fun and be competitive at. So no, we are not "just" doing a certain level or class. We worked hard and we have every right to be proud of the journey it took to get there, and of our achievements. There is no threshold for qualification to be considered a "real" rider or competitor. If you enter an arena at A and proceed down the centre line, you are doing dressage. If you enter an arena and jump a course of fences, you are showjumping. If you do a dressage test, jump a course of fences, and go cross country, you are eventing. Do not diminish the work, love and care that you put into this sport. Do not minimise your accomplishments, or belittle what it's taken you to get to where you are today. When you say "just" or "only", you don't just minimise your own accomplishments or put yourself down, you also set an example to others that they too are "just" and "only". You are not "just". You are not "only". You are. So go do it. Enjoy it. Smash it

04.01.2022 We've had quite a bit of interest in the horses we've had in for rehoming recently. Although we might not have anyone ready for a new home just yet, we thought we'd give you a sneak peek of one of the ponies waiting in the wings! Meet Effie! Race name: A Complicated Lady... Effie has just started her training with SS Equine - she came to us a little bit porky so we have had to introduce her workload slowly but she's coming along in leaps and bounds! Effie was a successful race mare with 41 starts winning over $18k. She has had 2 foals for her previous owner and came to us as they are no longer breeding. Effie is an extremely pretty mare with great conformation and smooth correct action. We definitely think she'll be a stand out competitor in the show ring! She has not paced at all under saddle. Effie canters confidently in the paddock but as she has only had a handful of rides we haven’t asked this of her under saddle. While she's not ready for her new home just yet, we're super excited to keep you updated with Effie's progress! A huge thank you to Conqueror Milling Company for their continued support of Life After Racing

03.01.2022 Rachel Walton & Pay The Pacer aka Pacie competing in the 45cm class today Pacie was adopted by Rachel through our retraining program less than 12mths ago & going from strength to strength

02.01.2022 ADOPTED Frankies Dream Racing Name: Noble Willow... DOB 18th October 2014 Approx 16.1hh Frankie was never raced or trialled as he was far too slow, he was agisted as a youngster at Bathurst High School and was a much loved pet of all the students. Frankie is super affectionate and a total gentleman with his ground manners. Frankie has been successfully shown in led classes and attended a few clinics most recently at Bates Equestrian Centre where his ability and love of jumping really shone through. Frankie would suit any discipline - he is a bold boy with a huge ground covering trot and an established canter under saddle that he is happy to pop into. He would be right at home in endurance and trail riding. With more education Frankie would be a competitive dressage horse and with his flash markings and ‘look at me’ presence he would also do well in the show ring! He is a quick learner and very responsive so with additional education his potential is limitless! Frankie's kind, loving, and willing nature would also make him the perfect Pony Club mount for a capable teen rider. Due to Frankies size and BIG ground covering trot he does needs a rider who has a secure seat and as with all of our adoption horses he does require further education to meet his full potential. Frankie self loads onto a float and is great whilst travelling. He is great in a paddock with other horses or by himself and is up to date with the farrier, dentist and worming. As with all of our horses that are trained by Sarah at SS Equine, Frankie has been extremely well desensitised and has been ridden through busy streets, beside buses, the M7, past motorbikes, taking everything in his stride. This video contains just some of the amazing things Frankie has achieved in his first 2 weeks with Sarah and the SPPHA! Frankie is now available for interested parties to come and meet him! His adoption fee is $1850 or if entering a payment plan his price is $2200 with minimum payment of $25 per week. As always a huge thank you to Conqueror Milling Company for providing the feed that makes our horses look so good! For those wishing to adopt any horse from SPPHA NSW please visit our website at www.standardbred.org.au to view the contract applicable for all adoptions. #spphansw #lifeafterracing

01.01.2022 Our rehoming program is successfully providing fantastic homes and Life After Racing for our beautiful Standardbreds As our horses are in high demand and are usually adopted within a week of being advertised we are beginning to accumulate a waiting list of interested parties. It is due to this popularity that we are taking EOI for our current gelding in saddle training, meet Hawkowl!... Hawke is a striking 9yr old gelding who has been an absolute delight - he has a lovely comfortable trot and is quiet to ride through the streets and next to the M7. This is only his first week with Sarah from SS Equine and he's coming along in leaps and bounds! If you would like to keep up to date with his progress or would be interested in meeting him please message us! Massive thankyou to Conqueror Milling Company, their support is invaluable in allowing us to continue producing these horses to such a high standard.
