14.01.2022 Horses have a single stomach, and like humans, excessive daily intake of sugars will lead to laminitis and other digestive problems. An interesting comparison o...f sugar content in two different hay types. There were assumptions made of course by the authors but for those who prefer visual representations instead of numbers I think these photos send a clear message. Oaten Hay first then pasture hay with their sugar content. If we added a photo of Manuka Haylage I estimate you would only see a half sugar packet (500g) sitting on top. Manuka Haylage is tested to only have 2.5% Non Structural Carbohydrates, ie the dangerous sugars. "Have to have haylage!"
