24.01.2022 It was the National Superhero week last week and our educators and children in our centre celebrated to support the Muscular Dystrophy Australia. As part of the program, children were informed to arrive dressed up in their favorite superhero costumes and also given choices to engage in some arts and crafts experiences. Children had opportunities to explore their creativity and imagination engaging in different experiences organized by each room in the centre. For example, t...he pre-kinder made superhero masks, the kinder made superhero shield, the seniors toddlers and Junior toddlers made masks and the nursery made a collaged mask to support the good cause. Through these experiences the children were able to express themselves, helps them to develop social, language, thinking and connecting to what they see in the world around them. Outcome 2: Children are connected and contribute to their world.

16.01.2022 This week we look to place the spotlight on National Child Protection Week, with the theme. "Putting children first". NAPCAN - Play Your Part invite all Australians to look at how they can prioritise children in their lives and communities and to engage in National Child Protection Week as individuals, and as part of families, organisations, communities and society. Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare. #childrights #childprotection

15.01.2022 "My name is Sharmila Sinnathamby and I have been in the early childhood sector for the last 6 years. I have worked as Kindergarten Teacher and also a second in-charge in all those years. I believe that young children are very curious and are little explorers. They an active participants in their learning and learn the best through hands on play. Each child is unique with different interests, background and developmental stages. As an educator, I believe that learning is happening all the time and it is interwoven through all the developmental strands such as physical, social, emotional, cognitive and communication. Therefore, as an educator i strive to create programs that helps this learning to be an ongoing learning that is positive, safe, fun and nurturing for their growth".

13.01.2022 To celebrate the book week the children at Story House participated in various activities throughout the week, starting of with the reading books during group times, also making the caterpillar crafts in the pre kinder room, continuing with the kinder where they read book and extended into doing dramatic play in the outdoor with hurdles from the " we're going on the bear hunts" book giving the children opportunities to explore their creativity through role play. The junior a...nd senior toddlers was very busy as the children enjoyed the balloon painting according to their book on balloons while Nursery children were learning farm animals sounds based on the farm animal book and explore with a goop sensory farm animal play experience. This gave the children the opportunity to express their imagination whilst making new discoveries with their sensory and cognitive recognition skills, recognising the different animals throughout the book, apart from this, they also extended on their language, pro social and fine motor skills. 10.01.2022 The day you send your little ones to ‘big’ school is a HUGE deal for any parent. How do you know if they’re ready? Will they cope with the rigours of full-time formal schooling? How soon should you start preparing them? How can you make it easier on them and you?... In this special masterclass, parenting educators Maggie Dent and Dr Kaylene Henderson come together to equip parents with some essential tools in getting their kids ready to start school and to do well when they get there. http://ow.ly/wdOa50BKsuO

10.01.2022 Our little musicians in our nursery room had lots of fun experimenting with sound. We placed some different types of metal objects in a tub of water for them to explore with. They were very engaged and inquisitive, expressing their imagination and showed great hand eye coordination by tapping on the different objects. Absorbing the different sounds and sensation of the water whilst using different techniques learning the concept of tapping on them, exploring the different sounds they made by tapping either harder and softer, challenging their rhythmic ability, fine motor and cognitive skills whilst also developing on their cause and effect skills .
