25.01.2022 "Grief is like the ocean; it comes in waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim." - Vicki Harrison We know that each person journeys through grief in their own way, and at times, even the most simple things can seem overwhelming. During this time we encourage you to take the time you need to slow down, reflect and care for yourself and your emotional wellbeing.

25.01.2022 As we welcome spring, new life is evident all around us, offering a sense of optimism and hope during an otherwise challenging and emotive time. We can use the beauty of nature and the beginning of a new season to identify with a fresh start or a new phase. Give yourself permission to focus on the small things that are all around us and savour them, as simple joys can sustain us during these uncertain times.

25.01.2022 We have been honoured to host All Souls’ Day services annually as our community gather with family and friends. However, this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we are sadly unable to host the services on our sites. While restrictions may have limited our on-site services, we encourage you to connect with a local parish community at this time to participate in an online All Souls Day service.

24.01.2022 During this time its important that we remember to be kind to ourselves and our body. Remember that everyone reacts to stressful situations differently for some, moments of quiet reflection will help, for others maybe its a walk around the block or even a quiet afternoon with a hot cuppa. If you need extra support during this time, we encourage you to prioritise self-care. You can follow along with some of our wellness videos of guided meditations and stretches created by our caring team at The Centre for Care and Wellbeing

23.01.2022 The loss of a child, one’s own child, at any age is challenging. It’s important to remember that our friends and family need us more than ever during the challenging early days, but also in the months and years after. This World Children’s Day, we want to share some ways that you can support friends and family during their grief.

23.01.2022 I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light. - Helen Keller Today on International Day of Friendship, we celebrate our closest and dearest friends. Those who are there for us during the darkest moments in our lives, who pick us up when we fall, offer a shoulder to cry on and make us laugh when we thought that might never be possible again. Even though we cant be physically close to our friends during this time, we can still encourage them, and let them know we care and are still here for them. Check-in with your friends and let them know youre thinking of them today.

22.01.2022 Each year on National Police Remembrance Day, we are honoured to partner with Victoria Police. On this special day of remembrance, we honour and reflect on the memories of police officers who have so tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. We remember them, we celebrate their valour, and humbly commemorate their legacy. In lieu of holding a service at our police memorial, this year, we share with you a special message from SMCT CEO Jane Grover, Local Area Commander - Greater Dandenong Inspector Mark Langhorn and Victoria Police Officer Constable Mark Andrews.

21.01.2022 Today we take a moment to remember all the wonderful fathers and father figures in our lives. Fathers Day this year whilst it may look different for many, still holds a unique place in our hearts. Some of us are lucky enough to be close by our nearest and dearest, and others are further apart. For some, our loved ones are no longer with us - at these times, we remember them. Earlier this week we were delighted to join with our community online as we spend time in reflection together, honouring our everyday heroes.

We reflect on the memories of those who are no longer with us, their special wave, their nurturing voice, their cheeky faces and endearing actions. Remembering those special little moments that only a grandchild and their grandparent can share. Today we can smile as we think of them, Wherever they may be.

20.01.2022 She smiled and her whole face lit up. Or maybe it was mine. All I know for certain is that smile lit up even my darkest days. - J. Sterling Today we’re celebrating World Smile Day . Although in Melbourne we’ve been wearing face masks covering our nose and mouth, there’s nothing that can hide a genuine smile, it beams through our entire face. Smiling can also boost our own personal mood, helping us relieve stress and encourage positivity.... Tag someone who makes you smile and let them know you’re thinking of them today.

Our thoughts are with you, and your loved ones during this time.
