23.01.2022 A wonderful collaboration between SNCC and Faulconbridge Public School has brought an unexpected lift in the lives of many older people and younger members of the community. SNCCs Volunteer Home Visitors Coordinator, Tonje Akerholt, sought ways of providing her elderly clients with social support while face-to-face visiting was restricted. Students in Class 5/6P at Faulconbridge Public School were each assigned a client as part of their writing module. They were encouraged... to write a letter describing their own experiences during the COVID-19 lockdown as well as ask questions about the recipients life involving previous pandemics, migration, family and their knowledge of Australian history. The responses have been enthusiastic and heartwarming on both sides. If you are interested in being part of the Volunteering Home Visitors scheme as either a volunteer or a client, please contact Tonje at Springwood Neighbourhood Centre Cooperative on 0423 797 001 or email [email protected]
