They had a footy focus this work and worked hard on their fundamental movement skills as well as the core skills of kicking, scoring a try and ball security. The academy kids worked in teams toward a common goal and, most importantly, to score more points than the other team! JSA kids - you were awesome today! ... 03.01.2022 We are beyond excited to officially launch... MINI MIYAGIS MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY The Mini Miyagis Martial Arts Academy is an introductory martial arts program for 3 - 5 year olds.... We have spent the last 2 years conceptualising, brainstorming, creating and perfecting this program and we know it is going to be extremely popular with the local community. What makes Mini Miyagis so innovative is it is based on the Sprockets! philosophy of child led, enriched, quality learning experiences and is a mixture of general martial arts skills and balance, agility and movement games. Mini Miyagis is unique in that it does not follow a specific type of martial arts for example Karate, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu or Taekwondo. Instead Mini Miyagis incorporates the fundamental principles of self defense, discipline, fitness, breathing, punches and kicks, and delivers them through play. We have Sprockified the normal martial arts experience and made it age based, appropriate, accessible and most importantly engaging and fun. Our Mini Miyagis will be taught by the experienced, accomplished and enthusiastic Kate Lineham who lots of you will already know as a current member of the Sprockets! Teaching Team. Kate is a 1st Dan Black Belt martial artist. She has spent several years studying and competing in Tae Kwon Do. Kate has a passion for teaching little people and developing a positive attiude towards health and fitness and physical literacy from a young age. Mini Miyagis will run on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10.30 - 11.15am in Term 1. Places are STRICTLY limited to 10 children per class; with only 20 places available in term 1, please act quickly to avoid disappointment.
