24.01.2022 Shotgun Sunday is back! Our first shoot for the year will be on the third Sunday 16/8. Bookings need to be made by emailing [email protected] - Limited places apply. The range will be open from 9:30, a brief meeting will be held to discuss how shotgun will be run and your feedback will be sought. First shot will be at 10am. One session only.

23.01.2022 We finally got to shoot some flies today and it was great to see some new faces out at the range giving it a crack.

22.01.2022 If you are new to the range or haven't visited for sometime please take a minute to read the handout linked below. Thanks https://drive.google.com//1YBxr09-wVhtO-l_2FFZHNXwyJ/view

22.01.2022 If it wasn't exciting enough to see the 2021 Br30 comp kick off, It will be made even more so as I expect we will see some striking new guns on the firing line through out the year. It was not only great to see some old names in the lineup but a few that are new to the range, I expect we will see a few more join us over the next few months to shoot in one of the many disciplines we offer.

19.01.2022 Shotgun clay target is on tomorrow Sunday 18th. Set up from 9:30. First shot 10am.

19.01.2022 PLEASE NOTE. Bookings No Longer Required after Tomorrow 30/09 NSW SSAA has revised the Covid-19 Policy in accordance with the changes recommended by NSW Health. As a result of the new policy we will no longer require bookings. We intend to erect perspex screens between benches over the coming weeks, however we may have to place a time limit on practice sessions if we have members waiting as we can still only accommodated 15 shooters at the rifle range for the short term. We ...also hope to start running some competitions in the not to distant future. As always watch this space as things could change without much notice. Once again we thank everyone for their patience and co-operation in these trying times. We will post the new Safety plan shortly however the main changes are as follows: No more than 500 people [increased from 20] in total can be gathered. NSW Health states (as of 26 September 2020) that interregional community sporting competitions can recommence without restricting these activities to regions or zones, ensuring that: there is a COVID-19 Safety Plan for the community sporting activity in place; physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres is maintained between people that do not come from the same household; carpools or bus travel with people from different household groups is avoided; and social gatherings before and after the event are minimised. Ranges may place, or construct, a partition between each individual shooting position to further protect range users. Provided that the partitions separate the participants, the 1.5m physical distancing rule at the protected area is redundant. Standard 1.5m distancing and the 4 square metre rules continue to apply outside of this area.

19.01.2022 WOW ! WOW WOW!! That's about as much as I can say about our first club fly shoot for 2021. First WOW, let me set the scene, Hot Hot and Hot. The car said 41c as I hit the Hwy for the drive home, winds were from the NW around 10-16 klicks not blowing a gale but tricky enough, Mirage? bloody awful. THANKS as always to the target crew and scorers, as always a great Job. OH! OH!, I nearly forgot, Congratulations to Adam for nailing his first (of many no doubt) flies today, 2 at... 200yds and 1 at 500. Great stuff Rimfire. Second WOW! Belinda's group at 200yds (.985) and Steve's target (59.1) Check out the photos. Uncle Bob shot well for 3rd (156.1) but It was Team B leading the way in the rimfire with Mr (Poppy) B taking the honours with 164.03 and Mrs (Nanny) B 2nd (157.2) 500m It was great to see Andy come down from Canberra to shoot with us and shoot he did as he took the smallest group at 500m 1.52, Ron shot a very nice target of 52 even. Young Matty with his new Dasher barrel took 3rd place. I won't say who the two were that tied for 1st but Ill give you a hint. They were both shooting marXman rifles, one BRX, one Creedmoor, off marXman rests, and looking rather dapper in their marXman attire. WOW! just WOW !! :D :D :D After the dust had settled (the dust the target crew was making) and the scores tallied it was Young Matty taking 1st overall with 266.03 (old) Peter C for 2nd 263.01 and (poppy) Steve with 260.03.

15.01.2022 Great News !! We have approval to open the range. We still have a few things to get sorted but we are looking at Wednesday (22/07) As mentioned previously we are going to be severely restricted with numbers and will have to implement a time limit. We will have more information very soon. Please take the time to read the SSAA covid safety plan that is linked below. We need to make certain everyone abides by the plan; We all know what could happen if we don't. ... SSAA Batemans Bay COVID-19 Safety Plan https://tinyurl.com/y7dmnvvh

14.01.2022 We are still aiming (get it :D ) to open on Wednesday, (22/07) We are just finalising some details and will get all the information out hopefully in the next 24 hours. Once again I must reiterate that we will have number and time restrictions. We will also have to adhere strictly to the SSAA Covid-19 Safety plan (linked below) We are still looking for RO's (refer to Calendar) and are in need of some volunteers to help administer the safety plan. We need at least 2 RO's on du...ty and another person to help with, gate entry, cleaning, etc. As I have mentioned previously if the 3 are NOT in attendance the range can NOT open; It really is that simple. We can not rely on the same unpaid volunteers all the time, its everyone's range. Please consider giving up a little of your time to help out. Thankfully Denise and Ron have graciously given up their Saturdays until we can find some more RO's to assist us. We do need to find a 3rd volunteer to assist them. Please email [email protected] if you can volunteer sometime. SSAA NSW Covid-19 Safety plan https://www.ssaansw.org.au//SSAA%20NSW%20COVID-19%20Safety

11.01.2022 It saddens me to report the range will not be opening Sunday (30/08) as a consequence of the shortage of Range Officers. We can't rely on the same people all the timeIt saddens me to report the range will not be opening Sunday (30/08) as a consequence of the shortage of Range Officers. 08.01.2022 I'm happy to say we have had a considerable amount of interest enquiring about Range Officer training & several emails asking how people can help out around the range. As most would be aware Bryson is recovering from an operation and is still a little sore but is making a nice recovery, He hopes to be able to conduct some training in the next 3 weeks or so. We also have to try find a place to hold it. We will certainly keep everyone updated when we can confirm a date and lo...cation. If you would like some information as to whats involved just email [email protected] I have attached Septembers Calendar. (Please keep in mind this can change at anytime as a result of unforeseen events) We still have several days that we need range officers for. As you can appreciate we can't confirm range bookings for days that we haven't got two officers confirmed to open the place. If any of the certified RO's see this and can run the range on any of those days please email [email protected] with the day you would be able to attend, preferably the earlier the better as we need to confirm bookings for our members. If you are happy to be called on short notice to open up in case we have cancellation because of illness etc please also email me with your phone number/s and let me know you don't mind going on a list to be called upon. It never hurts to have backups. And don't forget our booking email address [email protected] if you would like to book in for a shoot.

07.01.2022 Thirteen intrepid shooters turned up to shoot the last of our IRB competition for 2020. Unlike the final fly shoot the weather didn't play nice with strong 20 kilometre NW winds.

06.01.2022 As we are all aware continuous change is the new normal. SSAA have revived the Covid-19 Saftey plan. Please refer to the additional restrictions, if these relate to you please take the appropriate action. The Office of Sport has issued updated information with regards to refusing entry to those who have visited the recently identified hotspots in Victoria and certain locations in NSW. Entry Restrictions for those from COVID-19 Hotspots... As advised from the Office of Sport, ranges should not allow entry to any person from any COVID-19 Case locations in NSW or persons who have travelled from Victoria in the last 14 days. As at 17 July 2020, this includes any person who attended the Crossroads Hotel or Planet Fitness in Casula, or the Picton Hotel in Picton on the dates below: Location Dates Casula: Crossroads Hotel Friday 3 July to Friday 10 July Casula: Planet Fitness Saturday 4 July to Friday 10 July Picton: Picton Hotel Saturday 4 July, Sunday 5 July, Thursday 9 July, Friday 10 July People from watch locations will be permitted entry unless they show symptoms. The full list of case locations and watch locations is available here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates Any person who has been to these places within these times is strongly advised to: immediately self-isolate until 14 days after you were last there; get tested even if you have no symptoms; watch for COVID-19 symptoms and get retested should any symptoms recur; and stay in isolation for 14 days, even if you get a negative test (this is because it can take 14 days before you may show symptoms or test positive). If any area is added to the case location list, then people from that area must not be allowed entry.

06.01.2022 Please find below (once again) the Calendar for rifle practice for January. Pistol is held every Wednesday from 1:00. Please note last sign in is 30 minutes prior to close.

04.01.2022 Its been two weeks and things are looking good, well as good as things can look in 2020. Failing any outbreaks in the Bay area in the next few days it looks like we are finally going to open the range on Wednesday the 5th. As we have mentioned numerous times previously, we will have to follow a strict Covid-19 policy to ensure the safety of our member and volunteers. We feel the best way to ensure this is to implement a booking system as we will be limited to 15 shooter on t...he rifle range and 9 on the pistol range. We will also have to limit the time people can spend to give as many people the opportunity to shoot as possible. We will post all the details via email and on this page Monday sometime regarding how to book and what procedures we will all have to follow. As we have also mentioned previously, nothing is a certainty and things can change rapidly dependant on what happens. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding and we hope to see everyone back out there and enjoying the sport we all love so much.

01.01.2022 We picked probably the best day you could ask for to see out our (very short) 2020 fly season. Light winds and hardly any mirage made nailing those little buggers all the more fun. Firstly a BIG thanks to our target crew and our scorers who always do a great job.
