24.01.2022 The last week of school is BUSY!!!!

22.01.2022 Day 1- After our short 7 hour trip on the train, we settled into our new home for the week. We made our beds, set up our dorm, checked out the camp school facilities and had a beautiful dinner. Our night activity was lots of fun and laughs as we rolled along to tunes at the old Palace Cinema. We had a blast. Next we head back to camp for showers and bed. We’ve promised our teachers we will sleep.... we will just have to wait and see

21.01.2022 World Kindness Day! Today, Year 1 Blue celebrated World Kindness Day by retelling the beautiful story Ling Li’s Lantern. It was made even more special by having the author there to watch and talk to them about the characters and the reasoning behind it. #stbennies @stevekidsbookauthor ... @valuingchildreninitiative @stbenedictsschoolwa See more

18.01.2022 What a busy last week of term 3 we had!

17.01.2022 Day 3- Yes we were tired and our morning was very quiet. Our first outing was to the Museum of the Goldfields and we experienced what the first miners were exposed to in Kalgoorlie with the living and working conditions. We found out that there were drop bears after the dinosaur era which was an amazing piece of history. After our lunch treat, we headed to Boulder Town Hall and War Museum. The town hall is still in operation and was the first venue ACDC played at. Our evening event was a trip to the local cinemas to watch Sonic. The kids were super tired... but not more than Mrs A who fell asleep started snoring during the movie. Another great day full of history, action and adventure. Oh... and Mr Miranda used his bush survival skills to remove a snake from his pillow case! It was plastic but our detectives have found the perpetrator.

13.01.2022 Year 6 Kalgoorlie Camp 2020... let the fun times begin!

12.01.2022 Day 2- Part B After morning tea we experienced a once in a life time event... a tour of the KCGM Super Pit. Wow... it was amazing and words couldn’t describe the view. We then moved on to the Hannans North Tourist Mine and were able to keep any gold we found in the panning ponds. Gold and gems were in plentiful supply. After a great day we headed back to camp for dinner and games. Highlights were the chocolate, Oreo and donut games. We were ready for bed and we settled a lot better tonight. Looking forward to another action packed day tomorrow!!!

08.01.2022 Day 4- yes we admit it... we are now tired and we slept in! Our first outing was to the original Two Up location where Mr Miranda taught the students how to play Two Up. It was a great opportunity to learn the way the game was played and role play different roles in the game such at the boxer, ringer, spinner and cockie. We popped in to see Chunky Timber works and how they use recycled timber to make beads and furniture, taking a Nullarbor bead home. We loved spending some time back at camp before heading to Kalgoorlie Oasis for a bit of a slip, slide and swim. Then it was pack up and get to bed early for our 4.45am wake up call. Thanks for another great day Kalgoorlie.

In groups we experienced some of the highlights of mining including panning for gold and participated in World Mining games events. Stay tuned for part 2.
