25.01.2022 The Assumption of Mary is a Feast Day that celebrates when Our Holy Mother, having completed her course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory. 15th August.

25.01.2022 Today is World Children's Day, marking the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959, and the adoption of the Convention... on the Rights of the Child. The most widely ratified international human rights treaty in history, the Convention sets out the rights of children, such as the right to healthcare, education, clean water, protection from violence and the right to have their say in decisions that affect them. This World Children’s Day, UNICEF Australia invited children and young people to illustrate the change they’d like to see and draw, paint, sketch, colour or build their better world. We encourage you to visit https://worldchildrensday.unicef.org.au/ to view artwork submissions from children on how they would reimagine a better world.

24.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SCHOOLS IN PERTH AND PEEL REGION Under the post-lockdown transition measures, Perth and Peel schools will open for Term 1 on Monday, 8 Fe...bruary. All staff members and students in Perth and Peel regions in Years 7 to 12 will be required to wear masks at school. This applies to classrooms, all teaching areas and libraries, staffrooms, and in playgrounds/outside. It also includes travelling on public transport to and from school. Masks should also be worn in private vehicles if there is more than one passenger over the age of 12 years. Students in Kindergarten to Year 6 in the Perth and Peel regions are not required to wear a mask, but their teachers and support staff must wear masks. However, when teachers, educators and carers are teaching, interacting with, or caring for children, they are permitted to remove their masks as they can interfere with their ability to clearly communicate with students.

23.01.2022 Yesterday, our Year Ones celebrated 100 days of school for 2020. We counted collections of 100 items, we drew 100 objects, we created a creature with 100 body parts, we did 100 movements for excercise, we ate 100's and 1000's cookies, but the best thing by far, was dressing up as 100 year olds! The class were even visited by a 100 year old great grandmother Mrs Smith! To top it all off, the Year Ones were awarded with certificates for being 100 days smarter! #smallschoolbigheart Catholic Education WA

23.01.2022 On Saturday the 21st of November, Mr P and a group of his friends will be running a half marathon from Scarborough to Hillary’s and back, to raise money for Movember, which is a foundation that has been formed to support men’s health. Men’s health, and in particular mental health, is something Alex is passionate about raising awareness of. Running the half marathon with a group of mates provides that avenue to talk while trying to champion the cause. Throughout November, you ...will definitely notice a faint moustache growing above his upper lip. It’s not pretty, but it’ll raise the much needed awareness about men’s health amongst the community. You can support Alex in two ways. Firstly, you can donate to the cause by clicking on the link below or by popping down somewhere along West Coast Hwy on the 21st November between Scarborough and Hillary’s. If you are keen to find out more, let Alex know and he can provide you with some further details. Thank you

23.01.2022 Parents have an important role to play in supporting their children’s wellbeing. As parents, you are understandably concerned for your children and how they are... coping with the recent lockdown causing school return to be delayed. Children of all ages will have their own way of coping with what is happening at the moment. Check out this website for some tips and ideas on how you can help support your child. https://covid19.cewa.edu.au//supporting-your-childs-wellb/

23.01.2022 Thank you to the entire St Dominic's School community for your understanding this morning with regards the COVID-19 restrictions put in place. The start to the school year was certainly different to what we had originally planned, however, the kids have had an amazing first day, exploring their new classrooms and reconnecting with their class mates. We are all excited for the year ahead and are so grateful that it could finally get underway today after our false start last week. Hopefully they will have lots to share with you when they get home #smallschoolbigheart Catholic Education WA

18.01.2022 STATE-WIDE COMMITMENT TO ZERO PERCENT FEE INCREASES IN 2021. Executive Director Dr Debra Sayce has confirmed there will be no increase in tuition fees in 2021 a...t CEWA-owned schools throughout the State. Western Australians have come together to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and we are very grateful to Government for their continued support of Catholic Education in Western Australia. Now we are working together to deal with the impacts resulting from the virus. Our schools have reported that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many parents and caregivers have lost their jobs or had their hours cut, making it difficult for some families to make ends meet. Catholic Education understands the need for families to have certainty and stability. That is why Western Australian Catholic schools are providing families with the assurance that fees won’t rise in 2021. While 14 non-diocesan Catholic schools have the autonomy to set their own fees, these schools share a commitment to minimising the impact of COVID-19 in their communities. Read our full zero percent fee increase statement here: https://www.cewa.edu.au//state-wide-commitment-to-zero-pe/

12.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact and the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Here at St Dominic’s we celebrate that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists! #smallschoolbigheart Catholic Education WA

02.01.2022 Our thoughts and prayers are with those in our community who continue to face devastation from the raging bush fires that are still out of control in certain su...burbs. We pray for the firefighters working in such extreme conditions, that they too remain safe. "We are a people of hope and of trusting faith. We are a people who believe in the power of prayer and in the power of love in action. Because of the lockdown we are largely confined to our homes and our opportunities for showing our love in practical ways may be limited, though they will certainly still be there..." The Most Rev. Timothy Costelloe SDB Archbishop of Perth
