12.01.2022 PASTORAL CARE... Our Year 3 and 4 students have been engaged in a simple community project of making handmade Christmas cards for members of our community in local nursing homes, some of whom may have been affected by COVID-19 visitor restrictions this year. Students showed their compassion, empathy and care to not only design and craft their card but also write personalised, heartfelt messages to the residents.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Kirra for her success competing for St. Michaels College in a recent interschool equestrian event. Kirra and her horses had a successful show jumping day finishing Champion in the 60cm height riding Tommy and Reserve Champion in the 70cm height riding Joe.

10.01.2022 Konnichiwa! It was a very exciting week in Japanese as Sensei thoroughly enjoyed introducing the wonderful Japanese language and culture to students at the College in Years 1 to 3. Students in Years 1 and 2 were shown how to locate Japan on a world map, familiarise themselves with fifteen popular items from Japan including Hello Kitty, Pikachuu, Origami (paper cranes), sushi, chopsticks, happi coats, kimono, Pokemon and how to wear a hachimaki (Japanese headband). Students al...so learnt about Year of the Rat 2020 and decorated a title page with a nezumi (rat) on it. Year 3 students enjoyed learning about a lucky Japanese cat called Maneki Neko. Many students have seen these beckoning cats before in Sushi restaurants, Japanese restaurants, massage parlours and nail shops. They now understand the meaning of why the cat (neko) has the left or right hand raised. See more

06.01.2022 PASTORAL CARE In line with the Colleges commitment to wellbeing, our Pastoral Care team, along with the help of our Grade 5 & 6 students, have recently modified the look of our SMC Student Wellbeing Hub (Google Classroom) to include Virtual Rooms to make the classroom more visually appealing and user friendly to students. The new Virtual Rooms include the Movement Room, the Fun Playhouse, the Make & Do room and the Calm Space. ... Each room contains links (accessed by clicking a picture) to activities and resources chosen to help student wellbeing.
