21.01.2022 TOUCH THE SKY (1) // Today is the last day of Kay Woods superb solo Expectation and Other IroniesIt is always a great thrill to support WA contemporary women artists. 19.01.2022 YOURE NOT THE BOSS OF ME // Kay Woods work emerges as a result of engagement with her world wherein phenomena are explored for what they do not say the feeling of the invisible within the visible. She sees her work as intersubjective and follows Umberto Ecos ideas on informal art, in considering these works open in that they propose a wide range of interpretive possibilities and whose substantial indeterminacy allows for a number of possible readings, a constellatio...n of elements that lend themselves to all sorts of reciprocal relationships. This can also manifest in the the titling of the work. Sometimes the titles refer to actual places, sometimes they are lines from songs, elsewhere as in the case of Please Explain?, A Painting is Not a Megaphone and Youre Not the Boss of Me (featured here) they are a wry comment on the perpetual Q & A between artist and inner-critic.You can see this and all the other lyrical works in Kays solo exhibition Expectation and Other Ironies on now @stalacontemporary Wed - Sat 10am - 4pm until next Wed 9 SeptemberSERIOUSLY COLLECTABLE ART MATTERS See more
