21.01.2022 Monday 30th of November is Saint Andrews Day. We celebrate our saint and our church Apostolos Andreas. Unfortunately this year we cannot celebrate in the fashion we are acustomed to with a beautiful panayiri held on our Church Grounds. However we have the honor of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and Archdiocesan vicar Father Evmenios attending our church service at Apostolos Andreas on Monday.... Space is limited so if you would like a seat inside it is best to get to church early. Once the church reaches the covid maximum allowed, you will be allowed to enter the church and light a candle and then have to go back outside the church. After Church service there will be loukamathes for sale.

21.01.2022 Hi we have just been advised then Archbishop Makarios cannot attend on Monday, however Archdiocesan Father Evmenios will still attend. Church Capacity is 80.

19.01.2022 Gospel Reading: Matthew 3:13-17 At that time, Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me? But Jesus answered him, Let it be so now; for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he consented. And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending lik...e a dove, and alighting on him; and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. 12.01.2022 Names celebrated today: Ananias, Hananiah, Nino Romanos, Romana, Romani Theresea.... Saint Ananias the Apostle Obeyed "from the heart to whom you were delivered a type of teaching". Obey with all your heart the exact rule of Christian teaching. Such a man of obedience to God was the apostle Ananias. Because when God told him in a vision to meet Saul, who was the fear and terror of the Christians, he obeyed the words of the Lord. Immediately he went to the Straight Path, looking for the house of Judas, where Saul was. He healed him, baptized him a Christian, and then he, named Paul, became the great Apostle of the Gentiles. Then Ananias went to Eleftheroupoli, where with his teaching he attracted many souls to Christ. But the noise created by his apostolic action made the ruler Lucianus arrest him. He used many and varied ways in order to convert Ananias. But Ananias remained steadfast in his Christian views. Then Lucian flogged him with oxen nerves. Then, with iron nails, he tore his ribs and burned his wounds with lighted candles. Finally, after taking him out of the city, he stoned him. Thus, Ananias received the amaranth crown of obedience to the will of God. The name Ananias is a common Hebrew name and means "God has given"

09.01.2022 Happy Name Day KYRIAKOS He was a man who cultivated "patience, meekness". ... He was born in Corinth in the 5th century, to a priest father, John. His mother was called Eudoxia and he had a brother, the Archbishop of Corinth, Peter. Kyriakos, a priest, went to Jerusalem at a young age and from there to the Lavra of Euthymius the Great. There, Euthymius the Great made him a monk and sent him to the ascetic Gerasimos. When Gerasimos died, Kyriakos returned to the Lavra of Efthymios, where he zealously cultivated his virtues, until a stop at the Lavra of Efthymios forced him to go to the Lavra of Soukas. There, at the age of 40, he was ordained an elder and took over the care of the Sacristy. What set him apart from his contemporaries was the serene way in which he treated them, which is why he was an example to be imitated by all. Seventy years old, Kyriakos left there and patiently visited many monasteries and hermitages, where he lived with a very strict practice. Eventually, he died at the age of 107 and everyone was left with the memory of the ascetic, who showed "meekness towards all people". Gentleness, that is, to all people without exception. Introit. '. 08.01.2022 Happy name day to all those celebrating today: GERVASIOS IGNATIOS NAZARIOS ... SAINT IGNATIOS the Agallianos, Archbishop of Mithymna, the Miracle Worker. He was born in 1492.got married at a young age and became a priest. During the years of Turkish occupation of the island, he offered great and important services to the monasteries there and to the enslaved Christians. For all this, as well as for the sanctity of his life, he became Metropolitan of Mythimni during 1531 during Jeremiah II. And in his new post Ignatius became an excellent shepherd and so reverently after shepherding the flock of Christ, he died peacefully in 1566. The monastery of Leimonos or Leimonas dedicated to the Brigadiers, was built by Agios Ignatios a little after by the Turks, when the Greeks suffered violent population movements After several visits of its founder and first owner St. Ignatius and his son Methodius in Constantinople, the monastery became cruciform which means that the local ecclesiastical rulers in the Monastery had no right to was accountable only to the Patriarch. Not enough sigils were extracted from the high gate so that the monastery would remain unscathed from the predatory moods of the conquerors. Thus the monastery prospered and its property, especially real estate, grew due to the fact that many Christians to save their lands from the Turks dedicated them to the monastery. typical, something like resistance to cruel submission to the rulers. The abundance of monasteries in the places where there were Greeks functioned as a barrier to the easy life that the Turks promised to those who converted. The monastery of Agios Ignatius operated one of the first steam-powered olive mills in Lesvos. several areas of the monastery were distributed to the homeless. The 21st century finds the monastery of Leimonos with several new building facilities maintaining a nursing home, ecclesiastical and folklore museum with many and important exhibits from the past of the monastery and Lesvos as well as the library of manuscripts, one of the best in Greece and reception areas. and hospitality of the numerous pilgrims who visit the monastery in the summer.

Thekla SAINT KOPRIS It was named so, because his mother in a time of persecution and raid of barbarians, while she was also running to leave, was caught in the pains of childbirth on the street and gave birth to the saint on manure! Saint Kopris was a contemporary of Saint Theodosius the Commoner during the reign of King Leo the Great. He was distinguished for his piety, his purity and his wisdom. He was also a type of great willingness and humility, and he took great pleasure in offering his services to young and old. And when someone told him that he was humble, he replied: '' Indeed, how can I not be humble? the place where I was born (ie manure) shows my value ''. Thus he lived and died, always faithful, a humble servant of his fellow human beings. So God raised him up. For his faith, his ministry, his humility, the Church justly classified him in the dance of its Saints.
