24.01.2022 And just like that, term three comes to an end. Whatever you are doing these school holidays, we hope you manage to rest, regroup, make memories and laugh. #schoolsout #happyholidays #zootiestoyou
24.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone, and most importantly, all the best to our wonderful Principal, Mr Leyden. We will miss your morning Dad jokes for the rest of this term. Take care and hope the knee recovery goes well. Zooties!
23.01.2022 Welcome back! We are excited to face this final school term together. We have so much to be grateful for. We are blessed to be part of this St Andrew’s family...a family that values each member...a family that lives by the Ubuntu philosophy. Let’s finish off the year that is 2020 with positivity, togetherness and kindness. We’ve got this. #ubuntu #togetherwearebetter
21.01.2022 Who’s excited?? We are!! Can’t wait to see all those smiling and enthusiastic little faces brighten up our school tomorrow! 2021....we’re ready! #letsdothis #attendwithalisteningheart
20.01.2022 Today is Australian Primary Principals’ Day. This year, more than ever, Principals have gone above and beyond their usual call of duty helping their school communities navigate through these unprecedented times. We are so lucky to have our Principal, Mr Leyden, and our two Assistant Principals, Mrs Kowalenko and Miss Thomas, at our helm. They are true WESTIES and consistent examples of MJR at its best. On behalf of all the staff, parents and students, we thank you! #leadershiplegends #PrincipalsDay2020
18.01.2022 Our Year 6 and Prep Buddy System is a true reflection of the St Andrew’s MJR way of life. Our Senior Leaders gain such a genuine sense of self-worth knowing the positive impact they can have on their dear little Prep pals...and what better way of introducing our youngest students to the Ubuntu philosophy? We are who we are because of each other. #buddysystem #MJR #ubuntu
17.01.2022 On #thoughtfulthursday, let’s reflect on the wonderful St Benedict’s Day celebrations that took place last week. The students were in small, mixed year level groups partaking in activities focusing on five of the Benedictine CharismsCOMPASSION (writing letters to the elderly), PEACE (learning a song called I’ve Got Peace the audio of this video!), COMMUNITY (creating a community garden), HOSPITALITY (learning about Orange Sky Laundry’s impact on the homeless) and PRAYER (creating natural prayer mandalas). This is a new and permanent addition to the St Andrew’s yearly calendar and has already been given the affectionate nickname of Benny’s Day among the students.
17.01.2022 Our end of year liturgy Anchor Ceremony was held yesterday. A very special event whereby our current Year 6 Students hand over leadership to our Year 5 Students...our 2021 Leaders!
16.01.2022 Just checking in to say we hope you are all enjoying the school break...and a reminder that the simplest of things can bring the most joy! When’s the last time you found a stick and played air-guitar #bestthingsinlifearefree
16.01.2022 It’s all about angles in Year 5 Maths! Look at these little learners busy at work! #engagedlearners #makingmathsfun #mathematicalmonday
15.01.2022 One of our traditions here at St Andrew’s is to welcome all new-born baby siblings of current students into our school family with a special blessing at our assembly. We weren’t going to let the restrictions last term stop us from giving beautiful Baby Mia a proper welcome and blessing. Older brother, Brendan (Year 6), and his friends extended their arms to Mia and prayed that we, as her school family, always share with her our values and ideals of Ubuntu and MJR. #babyblessing #ubuntu #mjr #togetherwearebetter
13.01.2022 We couldn't resist sharing some Fun Friday Artwork with you. The Year 5 Students created "plaster letters" and then decorated them to display a word starting with that letter. They look fantastic! Can you guess each word the letters stand for? #buddingartists #funfriday
13.01.2022 To our amazing Parents : THANK YOU for helping us to celebrate World Teachers’ Day. We really appreciate your kind words and support both on this day and throughout the year. We, as a staff family, were overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness in providing this INCREDIBLE feast for us today! Thanks to our wonderful Community Association and Events Team for coming in and creating this delicious masterpiece for us! #feelingthelove #togetherwearebetter
11.01.2022 Preppies are always having a blast! However, Term Four brings a whole new element of fun with them now participating in school swimming lessons! Check out these excited little faces from their first splash in the pool together! Too cute to not share! #friyay #splishsplash #squishedearsinswimcaps
09.01.2022 Whatever you are doing tomorrow, may it be filled with love and laughter. We wish our beautiful St Andrew's Family a wonderful Christmas . #santaslittlehelpers #christmas2020 #togetherwearebetter
09.01.2022 Midday Moment is a new and special part of our day here at St Andrew’s. At exactly 12noon, every day, we hear bells chime and everyone stops what they’re doing for two full minutes. Here are some of our students to explain to you what it’s all about. #middaymoment #stopandreflect (Music: www.bensound.com)
08.01.2022 The Ekka may have been cancelled...but the Annual St Andrew’s PREKKA certainly wasn’t! Beautifully led by our Senior Leaders yesterday, our Preps got the Royal Show treatment, from sideshow alley stalls to ice creams, show bags and face paint! Everywhere you looked there were smiles on dials! #prekka #smilesondials #ohtobeinprep
07.01.2022 To all of the amazing Dads in our St Andrew’s family....may your day be full of love, laughter and hand made cards. #fathersday2020 #dadjokesallowedtoday #dadsrock
07.01.2022 Year 4 Students have certainly been busy little bees from growing sunflowers in Science to being little technology wizards to engaging in drama performances. They sure are having fun with their learning! (Music: www.bensound.com)
06.01.2022 Tomorrow, our Year 6 Students will complete their journey here at St Andrew's. What a marvellous job they have done in leading their younger peers, being positive throughout a somewhat tricky year and simply living our 2020 school theme....TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER. We are proud of you all and know that you will continue to flourish as you embark on your next chapter. #seniorleaders #togetherwearebetter
06.01.2022 Last week our Year Six Leaders launched our Annual Justice Walk which will take place next Monday. Whilst this year the event will look a bit different due to restrictions (sadly no parent/family participation on the walk)...the gesture is the same. To raise money and awareness for a great cause. Our local St Vincent De Paul helps hundreds of people in need within our community and holds a dear place in our hearts. Our Justice Walk fundraising efforts will be supporting them... this year. Here’s a little video, made by our senior leaders, which explains the concept further. #givingback #supportingthoseinneed #justicewalk2020 #helpcareprotect #vinnies #togetherwearebetter See more
06.01.2022 We are very proud of our new Coo-ee Walk. Mr Julian Simmonds (MP) spoke about it in Parliament last week, as seen below: Ryan Electorate: Coo-ee Walk Mr Simmonds (Ryan) (13:53): Last week I had the honour of attending St Andrew's Catholic Primary School in Ferny Grove for the official opening of their Defence Family Memorial. Located near the Gallipoli Barracks, St Andrew's has a large defence family community within their school. Next year, in fact, they will have 75 defence... families enrolled. Mr John Leyden, St Andrew's school principal; Mrs Rebecca Woolmer, defence school mentor; and Mrs Debra O'Hare, the business manager, worked to create the Coo-ee Walk to honour the service men and women and their families in the school community. They named the memorial the Coo-ee Walk to signify the call to service of the defence mums and dads at St Andrew's. In 1915, roughly 20 men who were determined to enlist started to march from central west New South Wales to Sydney. By the time they got there, their numbers were up to 300, and this was known as the Coo-ee March. When the parents return home from service, the St Andrew's community comes together at the Coo-ee Walk to welcome them home and thank them for their service. We must never forget the sacrifice that our service men and women make in being away from their families, and we must never forget the sacrifice that their children make in having mum and dad serve their nation and be away from them. I was so pleased to be able to support the St Andrew's Coo-ee Walk project by providing $18,000 through the Local Schools Community Fund. Any initiative to support ADF personnel is invaluable to my community in Ryan, and I'll continue to advocate for these families. Well done to the whole St Andrew's Catholic primary school community for their efforts! See more
05.01.2022 Today, St Andrew’s supported Loud Shirt Day where the students were able to wear a loud shirt to help raise awareness and funds for children with hearing loss. Our very own Wuersching Family are great supporters of this cause and spoke to the students at assembly this morning to explain the purpose of the day and what it means to them. With students bringing along a gold coin donation to participate, they raised $646. #loudshirtday2020 #togetherwearebetter
04.01.2022 Our students never cease to amaze us with their creative and artistic flare! In Art, Year Two Students have been using the Book I will not ever never, eat a tomato as their inspirationwhilst Year 5 Students have focused on suburban landscapes. So impressive!
03.01.2022 And that’s a wrap! What a year we have all had. Despite the uncertainty, challenges and new experiences that came along for the 2020 ride, one thing we could all take comfort and pride in, is that here at St Andrew’s, we are proof that TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER. Thank you for being part of this incredible school family. Enjoy tools down time, rest, recharge and we will see you next year! #togetherwearebetter
01.01.2022 A little Monday morning smile for you! We’re all in this together! #longweekends #notquitelongenough
