15.01.2022 An excellent morning with gorgeous weather. Today a full team of volunteers cleared a fire hazard from beside the State Mine conveyor transfer pit, cleared blackberries off the chitter heap, removed dangerous cables from the dragline bucket and cleaned out the conveyor transfer pit. Great work by a great team!
15.01.2022 Due to the current situation in Victoria, developments in Sydney and uncertainty around the spread of COVID-19 in New South Wales our board has decided to delay re-opening the museum until 6 September 2020. During August we will continue with our socially distanced Winter Working Bee program and welcome interested members of the community to attend.
13.01.2022 On Tuesday 1 December 2020 our local MLA Paul Toole visited the museum to congratulate us on our successful application for a $12,000 grant to assist with repainting of the Bath House roof. He presented museum directors Michael Langford, Darryll Cooper and Dennis Fowler with the BIG CHEQUE. Paul is an enthusiastic supporter of the museum and his visits are always an encouragement.
13.01.2022 Part of the outcome of todays working bee. The Blacksmiths Shop in the Workshops Building has been opened up to assist in development of a better interpreted space. Our large collection of forging moulds from the Chullora Railway Workshops was re-arranged and neatly stacked, some extraneous items were removed to other storage areas and rubbish was cleared away. The floors were also swept. We plan to remount a former Chullora Railway Workshops power hammer into this space.
