Knots are measured per square inch so if you look at a square inch at the back of a hand knotted rug you could try to count the knots but a quick way is simply to look at how fine the design is. I love my Cree heritage and I originally designed our logo as a dream catcher. We later removed the feathers to simplify and reduce the size.
