25.01.2022 Be Brave. Be Real. Be You. THAT is a gift only you can give to the world.

25.01.2022 As we negotiate new norms every day, may we all have the courage to be better human beings.

25.01.2022 As we pray for the return of 'normal' in our lives, what are you asking for? Are you letting your pain push you or allowing your vision to pull you? This is a great time to ask different questions such as: Which parts of my previous 'normal' do I want to keep in my new normal? ... What else do I want in it? What is waiting to emerge in me and my life? Who do I need to be to bring forth my vision of my new normal? How can it get better than this? See more

25.01.2022 "Courage is contagious. Every time we choose courage, we make everyone around us a little better and the world a little braver." ~ Brene Brown, researcher and storyteller. Crisis, any major change, especially involuntary ones, activates our ability to focus. It strips us bare, brings us to our knees and compels us to zoom into the essence of our lives and who we are. My car accident did that for me. COVID-19 is no doubt a wake-up call for the world. It is a rude awakening f...or many. It disrupts every layer of our lives and society. It challenges long-held work and societal concepts, structures and beliefs. It confronts us to reconsider what it means to be human and how we relate to one another. Drawing from my lived experience as a car crash survivor, let me assure you we have what it takes in us to get through this one. We have the inner intelligence to help ourselves individually and collectively as a community. The key is to stay brave and hold faith. I know it feels hard to be brave when you are staring at real problems such as losing your home, jobs, social life, everything that makes us feel a little safer in this world. It feels scary, uncertainty is everywhere and closing in. In times where everything seems to be running away from you, focus on people and things that steady you. Family, friends, loved ones, nature, pets, books, music, anything that matters to you. Take care of YOU, physically, mentally and spiritually. This is the time we need to offer our best self, to show up for each other. May we all find the courage to stand strong on the shifting sands under our feet. Here is a powerful talk on Netflix by Brene Brown that I believe is perfect for the times we are in. This is the trailer, you can find it on Netflix -- The Call to Courage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gr-WvA7uFDQ Courage is not always loud and big, a fiery flame for all to see. More often, the strength within you is just a tiny spark that whispers ever so softly, "You got this. Keep going." We got this. Let's keep going. To our wellbeing and power, with lots of love, Joanne

23.01.2022 Poor English or not, kindness is kindness. Let us be kind to each other at this time. No act is too small. Take care of each other by staying home.

19.01.2022 I did my first podcast recently, as a guest on The Lost Traveller podcast. Henry-Cameron and I chatted for an hour! It is long but I hope worth your time. See you on the inside! https://www.henryallen.org//special-on-elevating-human-con

19.01.2022 My friend Sue Cunsolo mentioned this is the 6th weekend we are in isolation and I went, has it been only six weeks? It feels like a lifetime. This status quo ha...s gone on long enough for even the most optimistic to begin to feel the weight, to question: how long more can I take this? My days have ranged from incredibly good to downright shitty. I wake up everyday to create my best day and sometimes it doesn't work out that way. Hitting the wall is real and it sucks. Luckily for me, there were previous times in my life when I felt sucked in. A near-fatal car crash. Divorces. Losing jobs. Losing my dad and friends to illness. Losing friendships. Feeling lost and directionless for a long time. In comparison, this suck feels tame. My loved ones and I are safe and healthy. I am deeply grateful for this contrast, for perspective. Collectively, these experiences have taught me some priceless life lessons. I have learnt that: Life is not linear - sometimes we go backwards before forward; to slow down to speed up. It is ok to feel less than stellar. I don't have to resist every negative emotion I feel. They tell me something about me. They are invitations for me to listen, go within and connect with me. Every moment - good and bad - is temporary. I met my strength every step of the way, strength I didn't know I had. I have everything I need to not only survive but to thrive and come out stronger. Every day I CHOOSE HOPE and BELIEVE that everything will work out for the better. Every day I put my best foot forward and correct myself as best as I can when I fumble. I lead myself in this brave new world. I am sure many of you, like me, have moved through various emotions. I am sharing these thoughts today not to say I am better in any way but to convey that YOU have the power to decide how this works out for you. YOU DEFINE YOU. Instead of asking when will this be over, I suggest you engage in an appreciative inquiry of your life and ask instead: What good is present that I cannot see? What good is trying to happen in my life that I cannot see? What is within me that is trying to emerge right now? What gift do I have to give to the world? What talents within me am I to cultivate to express? Ask and you shall receive. Stay safe, be well. With all my love, Joanne

19.01.2022 Standing at a threshold in my life. Rebuild and reinvent. This quote deeply resonates with me. The book of Life comes with several chapters. Endings always evoke some emotion along the entire spectrum, from ecstasy to complete despair, or simply quiet gratitude. One thing will always be true: we are the author of our life story. We hold the pen. We have the power to shape our reality. Learn from the past and keep moving forward. New possibilities and new experiences to be created and had.

16.01.2022 Kindness begins with the understanding that we all struggle. Even as we deal with our own fears, let us find ways to be kind to ourselves, to each other, together. Thank you Infinite Yoga & Wellness & Jeanette Peterson for sharing this.

16.01.2022 Wow. I love this. Straight, no bullshit, unapologetic. Have you given any thought to your life purpose?

16.01.2022 July 24th was to have been the opening of Tokyo Olympics 2020. This video is narrated by a 19-year old athlete who recovered from lymphoma. It's a message of hope and encouragement, a beautiful message much needed at a time now, at this point of human evolution and right this moment. No effort, no matter how small, is ever wasted in the Sport of Life.... I dedicate this to all of us who keep showing up in life no matter how tough it gets. Sending lots of love and light, J https://tokyo2020.org/en/news/videos/tokyo-2020-1-message

14.01.2022 Time. We are all supposed to have 24 hours a day. Yet everyone experiences the passing of time differently. By forcing us to pause, the novel Coronavirus has reminded us of the essential nature of time. It is transient, neutral and objective. No matter our bank balances, time treats us all the same way. It marches on regardless of what we think of it. We ultimately are the ones who give meaning to everything in our lives, including how we choose to spend our time. Time, alo...Continue reading

13.01.2022 Everyone is welcome!

12.01.2022 A dear friend suggested I walk barefoot on grass for at least 20min a day. I did it this morning. It was a very special feeling. The touch of the grass felt raw and delicious. Almost immediately, there was a rush of energy from the ground up my feet, literally felt like Mother Nature sending love to my body. Electrical pulses in waves. I felt so energized I started to move my body, dance actually, on the grass. It felt sublime. I have been to this park countless times yet i...t felt different for me this morning. The air was different, fresh, light, uplifting. I knew it is different because I am different, I went with fresh eyes - my heart sees. Life is constantly changing; some visible and mostly invisible. What I see with my eyes is only a tiny piece of this ecosystem we call Nature. What we see is what our conscious minds allow us to perceive. We can't say for sure how we will be different, or how life will be different, when this pandemic passes. We can make a choice, however, how we want to be. Who will emerge from this when it all passes? Let's make a choice about that right now. Let's live each day consciously, and make adjustments for the better. Stay safe, take care of yourself and take care of each other.

10.01.2022 At the age of 85, Dame Judi Dench just became Vogue's oldest cover star. "If a great of kindness comes out of this, then that will be a plus."

10.01.2022 I am thankful for another new day to be alive, to feel, to love and to care. With every passing day, we know a little bit more about this virus and we are one step closer to beating it. I am thankful for the beautiful weather; imagine how much gloomier it will be if we had crappy weather. ... I am thankful that more people are coming to reason, finding ways to soothe their nerves and learning that social distancing is our best defense. I am thankful for people who are committed to spread love not fear. I am thankful for the contrasts that teach us what really matters in life. I am grateful for the collective intelligence and wisdom in the world that offsets some stupidity that is present. I am grateful for kindness in every possible way, in every part of the world and our hearts. I am grateful for our collective resilience to get through this together. I am grateful for all the love in this world that is showing up, the amazing connections we are making. We are carving a new path forward as humanity. A new way of living, of being human beings. We will get through this as one race.

09.01.2022 Practice seeing beauty and spirit in everything. Hope your weekend has been nurturing and uplifting

08.01.2022 The single greatest problem in #communication is the #illusion that it has taken place. What is REALLY going on when two (or more) people communicate? Most people see communication as a function of #speaking. I have found that meaningful communication that connects people requires us to :... #LISTEN for what matters (70% of the time), be #CURIOUS enough to #ASK questions (20%), and gathering the input to construct a meaningful #EXPRESSION (10%) Most people speak on impulse, without a clear intention or context; many go into a verbal download of what they know or think they know. You will find that when you consciously #choose to listen deeply and ask questions before you speak, you will be able to respond more powerfully with far fewer words. Here is an extra tip: when we hear only what we want to hear, were not really listening. We must listen to what we dont want to hear too. What are you going to do differently today when communicating with people in your life?

07.01.2022 My nature walk today looks very different from past walks. I wanted to take a different path today though I did not have an alternative set in my mind. So I decided to simply walk. I followed my instincts and kept putting one foot in front of the other. I became aware of my inner dialogue. At every unfamiliar point, I paused and asked: where is this leading to? Well, let's find out? And I kept going cos I knew that if I stopped, my voice of fear will only get louder and my ...brain will form more reasons to not move forward. I will talk myself out of this walk. As I kept walking, noticing the path is muddy and raw, I could feel a greater curiosity overcoming the fear of the unknown. I followed the momentum of my footsteps. At one point, I stopped and looked back, thinking: will I know my way back? And just as quickly, I heard my inner genie said: You will find your way. Trust yourself. I smiled. I can't describe this moment with enough words. That deep sense of knowing that everything will be alright. Keep going, trust myself. I got this. #trustmyself #igotthis #innerknowing

06.01.2022 The poet Alexis De Veaux writes: "Motherhood is not simply the organic process of giving birth. It's an understanding of the needs of the world." This TedTalk by an American social activist, Yifat Susskind, titled "In uncertain times, think like a mother" carries a message that is poignant, especially during this time. ... I love what the speaker said: Thinking like a mother means seeing the whole world through the eyes of those who are responsible for its most vulnerable people. My heartfelt thanks to all mothers and mother-like figures in this world who carry the world through thick and thin. We recognize what our children need and we step up to provide it the best we can. We see ourselves as the solution and we take action. I acknowledge us for our courage and willingness to keep serving. THANK YOU. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW941OpsnMM

06.01.2022 Self-care practice is not selfish, not self-indulgent, it is essential.

05.01.2022 What is the Corona/ Covid-19 Virus Really Teaching us? by Bill Gates Im a strong believer that there is a spiritual purpose behind everything that happens, whether that is what we perceive as being good or being bad. 04.01.2022 Peter Dinklage. You might know him best as Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones, for which he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series a record number of four times. He turned what many see as a 'handicap' into his gift to the world. In his 'Light Up The Night' speech, he talks about the futility of being afraid of #change. What I heard:... Don't wait for the #defining #moments; they already happened. Give yourself #permission to #fail; fail better. Treat everyone kindly. Light up the night. Are you ready for change? Are you waiting for permission to be? Are you willing to fail so as to become the gift you are meant to be? What did you hear? 03.01.2022 Leadership is not a label. It's a verb, a journey of self actualization. More importantly, it is a choice we make. #leadership #selfactualization #journey #selfdiscovery #innerwork #leaderbychoice

03.01.2022 This is a time for compassion all round. At home, at work, within the communities we are in. With each other, with ourselves. More empathy, less judgement. Forgive quickly, let go gently. This HBR article sheds light on how we could tap into our reservoir of empathy when our cognitive resources are stretched and perhaps, depleted. I am borrowing and adapting these reminders to consciously, conscientiously and deliberately lean into empathy and kindness. People in my life ...and I dont see the world in the exact same way and thats OK. We have different ways of coping with uncertainty, grief and stress. They are under pressures that I dont see and cant fully understand or appreciate. Its not helpful to me or to them to compare our challenges. (AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY) We are all doing the best we can. https://hbr.org//what-your-coworkers-need-right-now-is-com

02.01.2022 When in doubt, be kind. To others, to yourself.
