25.01.2022 Today is International Stuttering Awareness Day! Speech Pathology Australia has an informative podcast where various topics are discussed. This is a great podcast for those who wish to learn more about stuttering, and the families we work with whose children have a stutter!

23.01.2022 A combination of carefully selected toys and guidance from an informed professional can lead to an abundance of language! Toys can facilitate language development, and ‘learning through play’ is a strategy we are very big on here at SBSL. This is why we ask parents to indicate what their child is interested in: unicorns, spiderman, fortnite, etc.so we can cater to their interests and lesson plan around these interests! #stepbysteplearning

23.01.2022 How exciting that our Year 11 students of 2020 are now Year 12 students! As exciting as this, it is very important for you to understand that you now need to be in the right frame of mind, everything you do (assessment wise) from here on our counts towards your HSC! Don’t let that daunt you, we are trying to motivate you. It is important to understand that your overall HSC results are made up of ‘internal’ exams being the assessments you complete throughout the year at school, and ‘external’ exams being the final exams you will sit in October-November 2021. Now is the perfect time to get in the right frame of mind and set yourself up for success. Don’t leave it too late. 17.01.2022 A phrase you should get acquainted with: ‘USE YOUR WORDS’ Provide your child with lots of praise every time they say a word. Sometimes, we also need to give our little ones motivation to speak! Often, we are able to predict what it is a child is wanting when they are pointing at an object, however it is important that they are encouraged to tell us verbally. For example, if your child points or brings you a book, you may say Do you want to read? or Tell Mummy what you wa...nt to do Implementing these small changes and making them a habit will certainly encourage your child to speak! #stepbysteplearning

It is a gentle and beautifully illustrated way of explaining the process for big (primary) school.
