17.01.2022 Thank you @fbiradio for premiering WHAT BECOMES OF THE THINGS IVE SEEN? this morning on @upforitonfbi . . This little bird flew straight into my glass window one afternoon while I was playing dress-ups with my son. We walked outside and I picked her up, cupped her in my hands hoping she might warm up to take flight again, my partner caught the moment on film, though little bird didnt fly, she stayed another few hours in a cardboard box and then vanished before I got to say goodbye. I think thats just how love finds its way through the creases, like an endless silk ribbon weaving its way in and out of warm hands, giving us all a glimpse, something to hold to, something to long for. Watch out for little birds that come banging at your window

04.01.2022 I feel immediately tangled up when asked to explain what a song means. A bit like retelling a dream, it feels quite futile explaining the course of a dream because the experiential glue is really what places a person in the aliveness of the montage. I feel like I'm bargaining down the integrity of the experience by explaining it.... however, 2020 is about trying not to cling to the integrity of the way in which we share our work and that has instructed a gentle yielding for ...me. It took a pandemic and its fierce restrictions (and impositions) for me; the stubborn but also privileged renegade, to push against something in order to start sharing this record. Maybe it's my way out of the grip of authority, maybe I felt like the world might be quiet or still enough to listen, maybe I've thrown it all up in the air because WTF? I wrote this song during winter while I was living in a converted laundromat in New York. It was a scene I think I must have written myself into while I was in utero. Post-break up, snowing outside, endless dark days inside. When you love someone you absorb pounding impressions and sensory scraps of them, while sorting through my grief I got stuck in a place where I didn’t know how to file away all the fragments of the person who was still vividly alive in me. Every path I set out on to erase that data seemed to be paved by perpetual imprints of them, hence, the question What Becomes Of The Things I’ve Seen?. See more
