24.01.2022 Queensland border opening up from December 1 to NSW with an announcement due tomorrow for Victoria.

24.01.2022 DAY 5 OF 30 DAYS OF DELIVERED/COMMITTED PROJECTS At the end of 2018, many of our communities were experiencing the worst bushfires in Queensland's history. Some people lost everything and we needed more help and money on the ground, fast. ... In just under two weeks we put together the Bushfire Benefit Concert and raised over $20,000 for our community. I can never thank everyone who helped out enough. It was an incredible night for a heartbreaking cause. The strength, resilience and generosity of our community during this time was extraordinary and is something I will never forget.

22.01.2022 DAY 6 OF 30 DAYS OF DELIVERED/COMMITTED PROJECTS The LNP will invest $100,000 towards greens covers at the Moore Park Beach Bowls Club We have an extremely active community at Moore Park Beach, but unfortunately outdoor activity brings searing heat and sunburn if we’re not careful.... That’s why I’m proud to be able to commit funding for the Moore Park Beach Bowls Club to improve sun safety. Lawn bowls is a great way to improve fitness, coordination and skill development and enhance mental wellbeing and community connectedness. I am very pleased to be able to commit to a project that will bring so many benefits, joy and prosperity for the community of Moore Park Beach.

16.01.2022 DAY 2 OF 30 DAYS OF DELIVERED/COMMITTED PROJECTS The Childers community and I took to the streets and launched a petition to send a message to the State Labor Government that our community desperately needed a new swimming pool facility. Initially the Labor Minister pulled funds for the much-needed project, but thankfully the Federal Government and council heard our cries and fully funded the pool upgrades! ... The wondeful Childers and and surrounding community now enjoys a heated swimming pool all year round!

15.01.2022 Huge numbers of mantas have been spotted off Lady Elliot Island! Here’s just one of the many reasons we should holiday at home this Christmas! Encourage all your family and friends to visit the best place on earth! ... COVID has hit us hard, but the Burnett is bouncing back and open for business!

15.01.2022 Every day for the next 30 days I will be highlighting either something I've delivered for the region, or what I'd like to deliver in the future as your local representative. I want to kick off the 30 days today with something close to my heart. Two years ago I worked with a local family to strengthen careless driving laws following the tragic death of their loved ones. ... We sought to introduce harsher penalties for negligent driving causing death or grievous bodily harm, bringing Queensland law into line with other laws across the country. The day those vital laws were passed in Parliament in honour of innocent road victims was probably one of my proudest moments in the time I have represented the Burnett. I believe these new laws are saving lives on our roads and I thank the Walker Family for their strength, determination and commitment for change. The Walker Family's children did not die in vain.

13.01.2022 Congratulations Macadamias Australia on being awarded a grant to use its own waste macadamia shells to generate bioenergy. The waste shells will be processed to produce electricity for use at the new Bundaberg plant! It will also produce hot water for drying the macadamias and create biochar for onsite soil improvement. ... It's great to see this family-owned and operated business kicking goals and committing to sustainable production.

12.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS to Elizabeth and Misty They are the proud new owners of the Bargara Mens Shed planter box and herb garden I was privileged enough to be able to take a walk around Elizabeth’s garden and what an INCREDIBLE oasis is it Well done Elizabeth on creating such a lovely space I’m sure there are even more ingenious creations to come!

11.01.2022 Plenty to see and do at Shalom Markets

11.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW Australia has over 2000 species of native bees but only 11 are stingless Our hive is a ‘hive’ of activity at the moment who else has noticed an increase in bee activity? Post your pics below! I’d love to see them!

11.01.2022 It was wonderful to join Pacifique Surfriders at their annual awards to celebrate the achievements of members. Congratulations to all and thanks for having me!

09.01.2022 Have you got something to say about the health needs of the Wide Bay? Now's your chance! Wide Bay PHN is undertaking a Health Needs Assessment to assess and understand the health needs of our communities and inform their future planning.... 09.01.2022 Today the Labor Government will hand down the State Budget and I'll be keeping a close eye on what's in it for our region to make sure they honour all their promises. Our Bundy-Burnett region is looking for a visionary budget from this government. We want real funding commitments that give important projects the go-ahead right here, like a new hospital and drug and rehabilitation facility, flood levee, Isis Highway upgrades, Paradise Dam and many other promises made during the election.

08.01.2022 As the official state election campaign kicks off today, I thought I'd share a photo of my beautiful granddaughter which is a sweet reminder of why I'm running again. I believe we live in the best part of the world, but there's more work to be done. I want to secure our children's future and make our community an even better place to live, work and raise a family. ... With your support, I'll ensure Burnett's best days are still to come!

06.01.2022 A month since the election and Labor’s already broken its promise. Despite promising only $4 billion in additional borrowings, they’re now borrowing $28 billion; that’s 7 times more than what was originally mandated. Sadly from a local perspective, I'm very disappointed. There's no new money for Paradise Dam and nothing for local jobs. Our community was also promised the delivery of a brand new Level 5 hospital, but again the funding is no where to be seen.... Also missing is the $42.5 million promise for upgrades on the Isis Hwy. The people of Bundaberg and Burnett deserve better than this. Our community wants transparency and real action it’s time for answers. That’s why I’ll be here every step of the way to remind Labor of their promises and make sure they are delivered. See more

05.01.2022 DAY 3 OF 30 DAYS OF DELIVERED/COMMITTED PROJECTS After hearing a major airline planned to ditch flights to and from the region, I immediately launched a campaign on behalf of the community to build a case for the continuation of reliable airline services in our region. Without competition, I feared the cost of airfares would skyrocket and impact on local tourism and business economy.

05.01.2022 DAY 4 OF 30 DAYS OF DELIVERED/COMMITTED PROJECTS The intersection upgrade at Rosedale Rd and Quinns Rd has finished Far too many accidents and near missed have happened at this dangerous intersection. ... After campaigning for years, it's great to see completed works after securing $495,000 for dedicated right-turn lanes

04.01.2022 The Queensland border will open to Victoria and NSW from 1st December This is welcome news for so many families who can now reconnect but also will be an major boost for our struggling tourism and business operators.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to local unsung hero Judy Wilkie, who has been awarded the Pacifique Surfriders Club Person of the Year! Anyone who has met Judy will know just how much of a proactive and dedicated member she is in our Bargara community. She really is part of the fabric of our region, and it's wonderful to see Judy recognised for her tireless work. ... 02.01.2022 It’s #ThankYouThursday Thank you to our farmers We are extremely lucky to live in a Food Bowl here in the Burnett, with our local growers putting food on dining room tables across the country. ... It’s now more important than ever we back our producers and that’s why the LNP has promised to FIX Paradise Dam and deliver the New Bradfield Scheme to provide water security into the future It was great to show Senator Matthew Canavan around our beautiful region this week. A BIG thanks to Greensill Farming Group for playing host, what an incredible and impressive family farming enterprise

02.01.2022 Parliament kicks off again today and I’m looking forward to representing the 35,000 people in the Burnett Electorate We had the Official Opening of the 57th Queensland Parliament yesterday, it was certainly an impressive affair! Not often you see six horses walking the streets of the Brisbane CBD

01.01.2022 LNP EDUCATION PLAN Our kids deserve a world class education. That's why an LNP Government will hire an additional 3350 teachers and 760 teacher aides across Queensland over the next four years. Investing in schools and providing a world-class education to Queensland kids is a key part of the LNP’s economic plan to get Queensland working again. We’ll also declutter the curriculum and air condition every state school classroom as part of our economic recovery plan.... Our plan to build a stronger economy means we can invest more in our schools and employ more teachers and teacher aides. Investing in education will support local families and lay the foundation for our kids to get ahead in life. Read more here: https://www.deb2020.com.au/debs-education-plan-for-a.../ See more

01.01.2022 Very exciting news with approval being given for the first stage of work to get underway on a master-planned harbour village at Burnett Heads The first stage will include construction of 28 short-term accommodation units, shops and offices built in addition to one of the five story residential and short-term accommodation buildings, incorporating 36 units While approval has already been given for the 'wet works' that include 318 marina berths and a 24-hour fuel dock
