10.01.2022 Ian Black gave a demonstration at the 2019 Modelling the Railways of NSW convention on modelling the NSW 40 class locomotive. Rather than see the information h...e compiled fade into obscurity, he has put it in another book being released hot on the heels of ‘The Footplate Ride’. The book covers all the different ways to model 40 class locos including modifying US prototypes, kits, brass and ready to run. The book includes all of the physical changes to the class over time plus the 3 different colour schemes: four including the post NSWR Robe River locos. It also has modelling references and sources of colour photos. There is also a description of how to lower the body of the Eureka RTR model. The book will be available from the Stephen Johnson Models on-line store https://stephenjohnsonmodels.com.au//modelling-the-nswgr-/ Stocks are expected to arrive on Monday 4/5 or Tuesday 5/5 next week.

10.01.2022 Available now from our web shop is a kit for the BKD prison van for the introductory price of $65. This kit is based off BKD 687 at Dorrigo and has water filler pipes at each end, it is supplied with decals covering the numbers for all four BKDs along with tare numbers and Elizabeth II cyphers. Those that received their pre purchased copy of AJRM would have seen the advert and had a chance to get a kit from the first two casting runs, along with those that keep an eye on the... latest products section of our shop. We have just added more stock of kits to the web shop and will add more over time as we get them cast and packed. Items required to complete the kit are your favored choice of coupler and 2AD bogies. The kit comes with both head stocks for screw couplers or Kadees, the under frame is designed to take SDS 2ADs but once the etchings arrive there will be an option for SJM 2AD bogies. If you wish to have sprung buffers there is now a buffer springing kit available in the shop. The kits can be found under the latest products section of the shop https://stephenjohnsonmodels.com.au/product-category/latest/

08.01.2022 The contents for AJRM issue 13 can be found at http://ajrm.com.au/latest-issue/ We are expecting stock of the magazine to be available on the web shop from Monday 18th of May.

07.01.2022 Something we have been working in conjunction with AndIan models on, has been the 18' post war steel under framed rollingstock. These kits will feature etched nickel silver under frames and urethane bodies which will be one piece castings wherever possible. We are looking at starting off with the 1948 CW then 18' LV while AndIan are in the process of getting a re-run of their WT gins with the redone nickel silver chassis and redone tank before releasing the CV. Eventually we ...want to do the CV, 1948 & 1965 CW, ABV which will have a couple of the different variations of bodies, the LV's used for milk transport and finally the GSV and S truck. Since a lot of time and effort has gone into the project to this date especially with the under frame, we thought why not do as many as the variants as possible instead of just the 48 CW and WT. The under frames will either have fabricated or punched W irons along with the various different types of solebars which accompanied them. This will allow a lot of variety within one type of wagon such as the 1948 CW that could have four different variations of underframe (the two different W irons and two solebars that we know of). The attached photos to this post are of the 1948 CW which is very close to going into production and the 18' LV which is still in the early stages but we are very happy with it so far. We have been able to do accurate louvers which really sets them apart and is something injection molding wouldn't be able to achieve, overall the details are superior to injection molded parts and all done here in Australia. As we make further progress on them I will make some more updates.

07.01.2022 We have received stock of Ian Black's 4th booklet on modelling the NSWGR 40 class locomotives, they can be purchased from this link. https://stephenjohnsonmodels.com.au//modelling-the-nswgr-/ We have also changed the method of postage for purchases from the shop to a flat rate of $10, the old postage costs were too complicated and confusing as we had people pay too much and a couple of cases of undercharging on postage. Finally. Our next kit will be released alongside issue 13 of AJRM which is expected to be sent to the printers this week, so keep an eye out for our ad. This next kit should come as a bit of a surprise as it hasn't been hinted at yet, unlike some of the other kits in the works.

06.01.2022 Ian Black has been a regular demonstrator at Modelling the Railways of NSW conventions. He has produced several books intended to make the information he provided at these demonstrations available to a wider audience. This third book which includes additional information and photos of completed models provides an overview of the DJH-Footplate Models range of loco kits along with background information and construction tips. This book is available at stephenjohnsonmodels.com.au//otherbooks/the-footplate-ride/

05.01.2022 SJM independent BL with interior partitions, modified Casula 2AA/2SB bogies, and Casula R car end gangways. Set up for tight curves with Kadee #156 long couplers and shortened truss rods.

03.01.2022 April 2020 update. We have just added more stock of our fixed link couplers to the webshop along with adding assembled 3 link couplers and some stock of etched compensation W iron kits for S & K trucks. They can be found under the latest products section of the website https://stephenjohnsonmodels.com.au/product-category/latest/ We have also added and instructions page where we will upload instructions for all the kits over time, they can be found at https://stephenjohnsonmod...els.com.au/instructions/ Finally, we have been very busy with developing new kits to be released this year and hope to have multiple new releases over the coming months. The first of these is now in production and an announcement should be made soon once we have a suitable supply of kits, we are very happy with how this kit has turned out and the level of detail we could achieve. Following sometime after this release we should finally have the HY/HG's out and then see what happens from there with the other releases.
