14.01.2022 Come in & give our Weekend Warrior Challenge a crack! Squat and Press This exercise will work your lower and upper body in conjunction. Keep the weight close to your chest as you perform the squat, push up from the bottom of your squat through your heels and press the medicine ball straight over your head. To progress:... - Increase weight To regress: - Reduce the weight of the medicine ball - Remove the press & perform a weighted squat Floor press This exercise will target your chest. Hold the weights directly over your chest, lower the weights down to your chest by bending at the elbows, squeeze your chest and push back up to the starting position. To progress: - Increase weight - Perform a dumbbell bench press - Place the bench at an incline To regress: - Reduce weight - Use the chest press machine Around the worlds This exercise will target your shoulders and upper back. Hold a plate weights in each hand with palms facing forward, squeeze you shoulder blades together and raise the weights to create a full circle. Slowly lower the weights back to the starting position. To progress: - Increase weight To regress: - Reduce weight - Decrease range of motion to perform a semi circle up to shoulder height and returning to the start position Step up This exercise challenges the lowerbody, namely the quads. Drive your body into and tall position, keeping your hips tucked under and aligned with your lower limb. To progress: - increase the height of the box - Add a knee drive (challenges the core & glutes) - Add weight To regress: - use a smaller box - use wall for stability Heel bridge This exercise targets the lower limb (glutes and hamstrings). Perform keeping hips tucked under (don’t over extend at the hip/arch the back), with toes off the ground driving heels into the floor. To progress: - elevate 1 leg, perform single leg - Add bench / weight To regress: - perform on the floor Plank This exercise primarily targets the core and stability across the shoulder blades. Position elbows over your hands and imagine a straight line from your head to feet. 02.01.2022 Knee pain? Owner Mark has recently been complaining of knee pain, particularly getting up and down stairs. Here, we are working on knee movement patterns and re-teaching Mark how to get up and down stairs without pain, as well as stretching. Next step for Mark will be to work on quad imbalances, build hamstring strength and improve movement quality!
