22.01.2022 New laws for low range drink driving coming in force mid 2019 Drivers who commit a low-range drink driving offence will lose their licence on the spot under new laws that will be introduced by mid 2019. Under the new laws, any driver who commits a low-range drink driving offence will be fined $561 and lose their licence immediately for three months.... Penalties for first time drug presence offences detected on the roadside via NSWs mobile drug testing (MDT) program will include a fine and three month licence suspension. From December 2018 first time mid-range offenders will need to have an alcohol interlock device installed to prove they can separate their drinking from driving. Repeat offenders will face vehicle sanctions, including licence plate confiscation and vehicle impoundment. Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight said last year 55 people lost their lives in alcohol related crashes and 81 people died in crashes involving someone with illicit drugs in their system. The 0.05 limit has been in place in NSW for almost 38 years. It is about driving home to the community that there are no more excuses, Mrs Pavey said. The message to the community is powerful. Have a Plan B. Because if you drink drive, you will be caught, and you will lose your licence. TRANSPORT Higher demerit points for texting while driving will be introduced soon Under new road safety measures, NSW drivers will face the toughest demerit point penalty in Australia for illegal phone use while driving.Its now 5 points for using your mobile phone unless its in a cradle and om blue tooth Red and green p platers are NOT allowed use their phone at all and can not use blue tooth and placed in glovebox or rear seat

18.01.2022 As of 22 April 2020, documents signed in NSW can be witnessed by video conferencing. The NSW government will temporarily allow Skype, FaceTime, Zoom and even WhatsApp to be used for virtual witnessing of legal documents while the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The new regulation was made possible by the omnibus COVID-19 Legislation Amendment (Emergency Measures) Bill passed last month.... 10.01.2022 Recently, Sterling Legal acted on behalf of a young couple, who unwittingly entered into a mortgage contract for holiday credit points. The credit points were purchased on the representation that our clients would enjoy 2-3 holidays anywhere in Australia - plus a cruise every year! The clients, who were on the Gold Coast for a family holiday, couldnt read English. In fact, they signed the contract and associated mortgage on the understanding that they were getting a free ...tour of the Gold Coast (which also included a free breakfast). To add insult to injury, they were unable to secure a single holiday in the 3 years since they purchased the credit points, even though they continued to pay for the exorbitant yearly levy. Sterling Legals complaint was based on, the unconscionable conduct of the agents and employees of the holiday company as well as misleading and deceptive conduct. We also argued that the absence of consumer guarantees that the products be fit for purpose and services be provided within a reasonable time. The claim and subsequent negotiations by us (and without the need for expensive and protracted litigation) ensured our clients were able to rescind the contract, and had them released them from their $57,000 mortgage.
