25.01.2022 AGED PENSION The Government has refused to actually detail what they're going to do for pensioners. Meanwhile the pension freeze begins today and pensioners will definitely notice.... Pensioners plan their budgets around two increases per year, but for the first time in 23 years their pensions will be frozen.

25.01.2022 Thank you to Mr Steve Georganas MP & Mr Tom Koutsantonis MP for meeting with James Franzon and myself today to talk Tunnel (North-South corridor). This meeting ...was really to confirm we are all on the same page by wanting what is best for the local community. Will continue to keep you updated. See more

25.01.2022 In recent months we have seen thousands of job losses in the Airline industry, and our thoughts go out to all of you. The Morrison Government's failure to create a national aviation plan to protect local jobs and skills is a disgrace. Airlines, airports and the unions are united in calling for a plan for aviation -the Prime Minister must listen.

23.01.2022 Congratulations Andrew Leigh MP on the launch of your new book, Reconnected a Community builders Handbook. Great to attend the book launch with Anthony Albanese and Maria Vamvakinou

23.01.2022 It was my absolute pleasure to meet with Principal, Sharron Ward, and year 7, SRC's, at Nailsworth Primary School. Very pleased to support a great public school in my electorate in receiving the "Local Schools Community Fund". The School received a $20,000 grant to complete the increased play space project for students.... This playground project was just magnificent and certainly appreciated by the children. As promised by Principal Ward, it certainly put a smile on a lot of children's faces. What a great play space, what a great school!

21.01.2022 Thank you Desi Australia and Daljeet Bakshi (SA Editor) for recognising how we as a community are coming together to help each other through these difficult times. http://www.desiaustralia.com/covid-19-toughest-challenge-f/ Desi Australia

20.01.2022 The Future Submarines project is the biggest purchase in Australian history but the Liberals have failed to make it a legal requirement that a minimum amount of the build is done locally. Instead of delivering defence jobs, skills and capability from the $90 billion spend, the Liberals want to count French lessons, hotel stays and travel agents fees as a part of local content. The South Australian Liberals must ensure the Morrison Government includes a legal requirement for Australian industry content in the Future Submarines build contract - to deliver long-term jobs for SA.

19.01.2022 This week is Asbestos awareness week. It gives us the opportunity to get the message out of how dangerous asbestos is. Unfortunately Asbestos is still found in many older homes and buildings. ... Please follow the guidelines of the Asbestos awareness association here https://www.adssa.org.au Too many lives are still affected by diseases caused by asbestos. To acknowledge the many lives lost and affected we visited the Jack Watkins memorial at Kilburn with the Peter Photakis, President, Asbestos Diseases Society of SA Inc.

19.01.2022 A tough week ahead for our essential workers, today a shout out to our supermarket workers who are doing a great job. Please remember to treat everyone with respect, especially our essential workers who are there for us.

19.01.2022 My heart and thoughts are with everyone touched by this terrible event including Australias Lebanese community in Adelaide.

18.01.2022 Goodbye daily mail delivery! Australia Post have advised they will now only deliver every second business day. The Morrison Government are using COVID-19 as an excuse, but they planned to do this all along. ... Cuts to this essential service and jobs are unacceptable!

18.01.2022 VETERAN SUICIDES A really uncomfortable issue to raise and to talk about, but one we MUST talk about to raise awareness and start to turn this around. I spoke recently on this matter in the Parliament, and I will continue to talk about it until our Veterans are safe.... Scott Morrison must call for a Royal Commission. I encourage you to have a read of Rebecca DiGirolamo's article from the Advertiser on yesterday. https://www.adelaidenow.com.au//264e5ae47caffeb67eb5941f54

15.01.2022 What a privilege it was today to attend the official opening of Novita's new Central Therapy Hub at Hindmarsh. My colleague, Nat Cook MP, and I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Delgado-Mendoza Family, where little Stefania participated in the official opening with Novita's President, Rear Admiral the Honourable Kevin Scarce, and Premier Marshall. Novita Central Therapy Facility features great design which include indoor and outdoor sensory spaces, multiple therapy rooms, a library and resource space with smart technology and a kitchen training centre. Great to catch up with David Heath as well who does great work at @novita

14.01.2022 Out and about in Adelaide Came across this fabulously delicious sourdough breadbox while door-knocking in quirky beautiful Adelaide recently. Place your order, walk by the next day, collect your bread and put your money in the honesty box, just like good old Adelaide used to be like back when I was kid.

14.01.2022 Another 3,000 jobs going in our aviation industry. Another 3,000 families thrown into uncertainty and despair. This jobs crisis continues.... 11.01.2022 When Labor called for paid pandemic leave, there were 200 coronavirus cases. Five months and 18,000 cases later, the Federal Government will pay some Victorian workers who can't take sick leave. A good step, but we need to get ahead of the virus. We cant keep playing catch up.

10.01.2022 It was great to visit another fantastic local business in my electorate yesterday, T BAR TEA SALON Thanks to Tony George, Kate and Peggy of T BAR AUSTRALIA for the insight into their impressive tea business located in Torresnsville. A local South Australian business, one of only three in Australia that source and package the best leaf tea direct from growers from around the world.... i can definately vouch that they do make the best teas available to Australian households and to the hotel industry. Remember to Buy Local.

10.01.2022 Great to meet up with Uni SA Labor Club 's Eloise, Munhemul and Noah today at my office. Discussions today held around the Governments plan to make it harder and more expensive to go to uni, and also the difficulties that international students are faced with in this new world of Covid-19. Labor will fight the Liberals' uni cuts and fee hikes.

10.01.2022 Pensioners do not need this setback right now! We ask Scott Morrison & Josh Frydenburg to reconsider this decision

09.01.2022 The Australian Red Cross is urgently calling for donors as the country faces a shortage of two of its most common types of blood, with supplies down to just two days. Supplies of O+ and A+ blood have now dropped to less than two day’s supply, meaning stocks of Australia’s two most common blood types are at risk. If you can, donate blood now!... Make an appointment here to donate blood: https://rb.gy/4uicpt

09.01.2022 The reassurance given by the Morrison Government was that the person appointed would not have a military background. This, however, is not the case and has left many veterans and families saddened and disillusioned by the process. I share concerns expressed by the veteran community that Dr Boss’s long-standing connections within the defence community could pose a conflict of interest that opens the office up to perceptions of bias towards Defence and undermines trust in the ...office. In light of her longstanding distinguished career within the Defence Force, it may place Dr Boss in a position which could compromise her professional integrity to remain impartial and yet loyal to her relationships within this sector. The expectation that veteran community trust Dr Boss to ask pertinent and provoking questions of her former colleagues is an unreasonable one given the circumstances. https://rb.gy/yvvles

09.01.2022 Lightforce Performance Lighting is a good news story that I share with you today, an organisation who are doing great work in our State! Al Jawhari, Allan Stabile and the great crew showed me around the Manton Street facility in Hindmarsh where they told me of all the GREAT THINGS THEY ARE DOING IN SA. By far the most exiting part of my tour was learning that these guys at LightForce have up and moved ALL its manufacturing from overseas back to South Australia, INVESTING IN M...ORE JOBS, and products are SA MADE! They are making a range of products from high performance lighting right through to sophisticated hi tech defence equipment. Let's get behind this great Company SA and support them!

09.01.2022 Out and about in Adelaide handing out my Useful Numbers Cards and chatting to local business and the friendly people in my electorate. Great day, great people!

09.01.2022 The Arts & Entertainment Industry need Government assistance now. What has been offered was too little, too late. The Arts & Entertainment is about culture, experience, community and belonging, lets protect it!

09.01.2022 Scott Morrison and his Government really just dont care for Australian seniors.

07.01.2022 Today is Australian Citizenship Day, a day to celebrate the importance of Australian citizenship, a common bond that unites us all. Australia is a nation built on migration. Generations of permanent migrants from all background have built both their lives and our country and their contribution must never be taken for granted. Gaining Australian citizenship is often the most significant step in a person's migration story and must always be encouranged, respected, and protected.... Unfortunately, there are over 150,000 people living in Australia waiting to have their citizenship applications processed and take their oath of Australian citizenship. Future citizens are being forced to wait almost two and a half years for their citizenship applications to be processed with an average wit time for 90 per cent of applications sitting at an astonishing 27 months.

06.01.2022 HAPPY 50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY to this great couple, Gianni and Elizabeth Daniel from my electorate in Mile End. 06.01.2022 DONATING BLOOD and PLASMA SAVES LIVES. Australia needs 10,383 more blood and plasma donors to meet demand. If you can, please consider giving blood or plasma Australian Red Cross Call 13 14 95 to make your appointment.

05.01.2022 It is always a pleasure catch up with Father Yoannes Amfalu and Goy from the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church & African Style Haircut (ADELAIDE). They have great plans for the future of the Parish and I very much look forward to helping them acheive the goals they intend to reach. This is just another one of those fabulous communities in my electorate of Adelaide.

04.01.2022 This virtual citizenship ceremony is a new and innovative way to welcome new Australians. Usually we gather in town halls with our family and friends to witness this milestone occasion. Unfortunately due to the current situation, the usual practice is not possible, however we were able to come together online to share this special moment, and welcome our newest citizens into the Australian family. I have had the privilege of presiding over many Australian citizenship ceremonies and am thrilled to see that these important events can continue. #cititzenshipceremonies #pledgetoAustralia #multicultural #welcome

04.01.2022 The Morrison Government must support the future of the Arts & Entertainment Industry. I will continue to fight for this industry.

03.01.2022 The issues in the Eastern Mediterranean are of particular importance to Australia. In such as if a precedence were to be set as a result of the territiorial dispute in the region, this may have unintended repercussions and consequences for other nations who adhere to inernational treaties and maritime laws including Australia.

02.01.2022 Lets get serious about jobs! To do this you dont cut money from TAFE. But that is exactly what Scott Morrison did -cutting more than $3 billion from TAFE, apprenticeships and vocational education.... TAFE cuts are hurting young workers who want to get their foot in the door, and workers who need to reskill. More people should get the opportunity to learn a trade and help workers to re-skill -the Liberal and National cuts to TAFE funding must stop!

01.01.2022 Parliament of Australia sitting weeks looking very different in August 2020. This week saw us doing our business very diffently as some of us participated in Parliament from our electorates. Thank you to the many parliamentary staff and others who have made it possible for us to do this work in this way. More work to do on the 'More Flexible Superanuation Bill 2020' next week.
