24.01.2022 Ciao a tutti I would very much like to share some of the children’s wonderful and diverse Italian work from this busy and creative term. Our Year 3’s have been creating their Tutto Su di Me - All about me figurine and writing pieces, detailing greetings, their likes and dislikes, hair and eye colour amongst other things. Favoloso lavoro ragazzi! ... The Year 4 Pic collages and PowerPoints have showcased their pets, the sports and hobbies they enjoy and the things they do after school or at the weekend that make up their piccolo mondo. It has been a special year for our 4’s many of whom made their Santa Comunione. In honour of this special and holy event and to commemorate the wonder and genius of Leonardo DaVinci; the students made delightful egg carton recreations of his capo lavoro - his masterpiece The Last Supper The very imaginative and creative students of Year 5 have been exploring the Minecraft Education App. Needless to say the children have been fully engaged and highly enthusiastic in this topic of la casa and have produced some amazing case ideali! They have been having fun and language learning at the same time.These incredible and fanciful houses illustrate their skill using the App and Its been great to utilise their enthusiasm. In Year 6 we have been learning about Italiani famosi. One of our featured famous Italians was the expressionist artist and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani. The students examined the very distinctive features that characterised Modigliani style portraits - il collo e naso lungo - long neck and nose, la testa ovale - oval faces, la bocca piccola- small pursed mouths, gli occhi a mandorla - almond shaped eyes that had a mask like appearance reminiscent of African tribal masks. I’m sure you would agree that we have some very talented artists in this year group. Their wonderful portraits are a faithful representation of Modigliani’s modern style. Impressive work ragazzi. 23.01.2022 This year, the Academic All Stars Day was held at St James Anglican School, Alkimos. The day involved a number of challenges across multiple disciplines, including engineering, geography, brain puzzles, drama challenges and more. Students worked in groups of 3 consisting of a Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 student to address the challenges of the day.
