25.01.2022 Artistic Director & Principal Conductor: Dr Anthony Clarke Hailed by critics as a truly wonderful conductor, by colleagues as an outstanding musician and by students as inspirational. Australian born Anthony Clarke has developed a reputation as a charismatic conductor, performer and educator and his vision for quality orchestral music making led to his role as a founding member and artistic director and conductor of the St George Chamber Orchestra since September 2018. 16.01.2022 We are delighted to present soloists Chloe Lankshear & Katharina Raffelsberger (soprani), Rebecca Hart (alto), Dr Robb Dennis (tenor and musical director of Aurora Choralis), and John Antoniou (baritone) performing JS Bach's Magnificant. Under conductor Dr Anthony Clarke, the orchestra will also perform Mozart's 'Jupiter Symphony'. Sunday 15th December, 2:30pm at St Mark's Anglican, South Hurstville. Tickets from $25

14.01.2022 Due to an unfortunate minor injury, we regret that Andrew Blanch will no longer be able to perform as soloist with the St George Chamber Orchestra on 1 March. Dennis Van Rooyen will perform the Rodrigo Concierto de Aranjuez with the orchestra. A postgraduate alumnus of Sydney Conservatorium, having studied under Professor Vladimir Gorbach, Dennis is an acclaimed classical guitarist and has performed and studied in the UK, Germany, Austria, and Greece. Dennis has performed with the Sydney Symphony Fellowship, Sydney Youth Orchestra Philhamonic, Hunter Wind Ensemble and the Pathos String Quartet.

10.01.2022 Arnold Schonberg : Apart from being one of the 20th-centurys most influential composer, Arnold Schonberg was also a talented painter. Many of his works are kept at the Arnold Schonberg Centre in Vienna, alongside an exhaustive collection of manuscripts, diaries, and photographs. One of his early paintings, a self portrait from 1910, is depicted here. The St George Chamber Orchestra will perform one of Schonbergs early musical works, Transfigured Night, a stunning piece originally for string sextet, drawing on the legacy of late 19th century German chromaticism combined with the composers own experimentalism.

06.01.2022 On Sunday 15 December SGCO in collaboration with Aurora Choralis will perform JS Bach's Magnificant. Aurora Choralis is a Sydney-based chamber choir with a rich and crystalline sound. Inspired by the great choral traditions of North America and Northern Europe, the group's tonal identity offers something substantive and beautiful in early music, modern choral art song, and vocal jazz. In the two years since its formation, Aurora Choralis has won the Sydney Eisteddfod in its ...first competitive appearance, been awarded as a finalist in the Championships, and recently was awarded second place at the National Eisteddfod in Canberra in multiple categories. Other performances include the Macquarie Bank's Symphony For Life fundraiser galas, Blackheath Choir Festival, the City of Sydney's Chinese New Year and Christmas celebrations, and the Sydney Sacred Music Festival. Aurora Choralis has collaborated with the Sydney University Symphony Orchestra for Karl Jenkins The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Chinese Music Ensemble (Chinese New Year), Coro Innuminata (Faure's Requiem), and Ghanaian drum ensemble Karifi (Sydney Sacred Music Festival). Aurora Choralis also provides opportunities for student and emerging composers to have their works recorded, as a means of championing new Australian music.

Performing worldwide to critical acclaim in Italy, Spain, Croatia, the United Kingdom, Holland, and New Zealand, Andrew has performed major works with orchestra, recently including Nigel Westlake’s Antarctica Suite under the composer’s baton with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, an...d David Eres Brun’s In nobilem memoriam in Quartell and Valencia, Spain. Andrew graduated with First Class Honours from the Australian National University under Timothy Kain, and has won over ten major competition prizes including First Place in the Adelaide International Guitar Competition (2019), Melbourne International Guitar Competition (2016) and the Whitworth-Roach Classical Music Competition (2015), and Third Place in the Maurizio Biasini International Guitar Competition held in San Francisco (2016). 03.01.2022 French / Australian mezzo-soprano, Rebecca Hart is featuring this Sunday 18th August 2019 in 'Gloria' @ St Marks Hurstville. Leading the generation of young classical performers, Rebecca graduated from Sydneys prestigious Conservatorium of Music. With an already outstanding list of credits to her name, Rebecca was recently a semi-Finalist in the 2019 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition.

02.01.2022 South African born soprano, Kate Wilmot performed extensively throughout South Africa then continued her professional singing career in Australia when she relocated in 2009. Her wonderful voice and personality have seen her perform across many forms, from Orpheus in the Underworld through to Gilbert and Sullivans Rose Maybud for Opera Sydney. Holding both Bachelor and Master of Music, Kate is currently a member of Pacific Operas Adjunct singers programme. Kate features in 'Gloria' this Sunday 18th August 2019 - St Marks Hurstville
