24.01.2022 Pictured are our Year 11 Visual Arts students' creative investigations of themes such as childhood, identity, racism, mythology and COVID-19. These talented Visual Arts students have shown great dedication to the development of diverse skills in animation, photography, mixed-media and a range of other 2D, 3D and 4D forms. The CAPA Faculty proudly acknowledges the creative talents of these outstanding students as they complete the Preliminary course. Well done girls!

23.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 8 Visual Arts on the completion of their unit on Still Life Drawing. Every student completed a visually engaging artwork drawn from everyday objects, ceramic sculptures and drapery that was installed in the art room. A selection of particularly outstanding work is posted here, displaying the creative talents of Carrie, Ellie, Aurelia, Helen, Suekayna, Abeeha, Azkiya, Natasha, Nicole, Zoe, Emily and Olivia. The amazing work from all Year 8 Visual Arts students is particularly exceptional as much of the work was completed during the period of remote learning. Well done.



23.01.2022 This week the Year 10 Japanese class went to the Japan Foundation to learn about Taiko drumming, traditional gift giving and wrapping, and also enjoyed a Teppanyaki lunch.

22.01.2022 Last Friday our talented Year 12 Music students showcased their talents at the Music Soire for their SGGHS peers and teachers. We wish our Music 2 and Music Extension students all the best as they make their final preparations for the HSC Performance Examinations that are scheduled for next Friday.

20.01.2022 Congratulations to all Year 10 Visual Arts students on completing a fantastic unit on Portraiture. These students all worked very hard in class (and during the remote learning period) to develop the necessary skills in drawing and painting to complete successful self-portraits. A sample of their impressive work is posted here. Enjoy!

20.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 12 Visual Arts student Bonnie who has had her Body of Work titled "Departure" selected for inclusion in ARTEXPRESS. This is great news for our school and a great acknowledgement for the student and her Visual Arts teacher Mrs Clark, who has provided endless support, guidance and advice to encourage the creative talents of the students studying Visual Arts this year.

19.01.2022 Japan Study Tour 2019 - during the 10 days in Japan students visited Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, Miyajima and Tokyo and experienced many World Heritage Sites including Ikutsushima Shrine, The Golden Pavilion, Meiji Jingu. They enjoyed the bright lights of Tokyo, Tokyo Disneyland and cooking with students from Kojimachi High School.

16.01.2022 The CAPA department are excited to exhibit online these amazing sculptures by our talented Year 8 Visual Arts students. This artmaking task invites the students to investigate intricate anatomical structure, manipulate a variety of sculptural materials to solve complex technical challenges and engage creative problem-solving to explore the world of mythology, fantasy and imagination. The ability of our girls to bravely take on creative challenges and autonomously work through complicated processes is truly impressive. Well done Year 8 Visual Arts!

16.01.2022 Year 8 were visited by Australian Award winning Author Will Kostakis. They were privileged to listen to the stories behind his books, as well as his journey to becoming a published author. Will was informative, generous with his time and his books!!!.

A great day of student led collaboration to enhance the quality of school life for all students at SGGHS. We are looking forward to our student leaders implementing the great initiatives they had the opportunity to plan for today. Congratulations to this wonderful group of student leaders.

14.01.2022 Year 9 Food Technology had their own Halloween party in relation to studying Food Trends. They carved their own pumpkins and cooked chicken pot pies topped with pumpkins cut from puff pastry. Delicious! Happy Halloween!

13.01.2022 This week, Year 8 are participating in a cross-curricular program. The program includes projects in food design, STEM, maths in astronomy, media and the creation of a childrens book. The Food Design team has started planning their Dairy-Free Cake designs by starting their research and brainstorming mind-maps.

09.01.2022 On Friday 6 December the P&C hosted its annual Multicultural Food Festival. This was a very successful afternoon that celebrated the rich cultural diversity that exists at SGGHS. Thank you to the P&C and to all the families who prepared and ran the food stalls.

08.01.2022 Year 9 Japanese students enjoyed a calligraphy workshop presented by the Japanese embassy on Tuesday November 19th. They learnt about the origins of Japanese calligraphy and the specific techniques used when practising calligraphy. The girls had fun trying their hand at using traditional calligraphy tools to create some really beautiful kanji (Japanese characters). Well done Yr 9!

07.01.2022 Year 8 Swim School at Bexley pool. Our year 8 girls meeting the mandatory components of the stage 4 PDHPE curriculum - learning how to swim and survive, CPR, and rescues. Day 2 to follow next week on Thursday 20th of November.

06.01.2022 Year 8 Food Technology had a fun day out at the Cake, Bake and Sweets show in at the ICC Darling Harbour on Friday. All students came away with either a hand made decorated cupcakes or biscuits that looked absolutely amazing!

05.01.2022 Tonight we had the pleasure of attending and being acknowledged at the 2019 Metropolitan South Operational Directorate Network Awards. Congratulations to our Award recipients Mrs Rahmi in the teacher (non-executive) category, Dr Murphy in the parent or community member category and St George Girls High School as part of the Kogarah Cluster (Sydney Technical High School, Kogarah High School, Moorefield Girls High School, James Cook Boys High School and Blakehurst High School) in the community of schools category. A great night to celebrate public education and the contributions made by the teachers, community members and leaders across four networks.

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 12 Visual Arts students on their impressive HSC Bodies of Work. The artworks display virtuosity with a range of 2D, 3D and 4D materials, and exemplify the high standard of creative work that is produced at SGGHS. The diligence and humility displayed by all nine students deserves special praise in what has been a very unusual year and, furthermore, the CAPA staff are proud to announce that three of our Visual Arts students, Angela, Jade and Ayisna have been shortlisted for the ARTEXPRESS exhibition in 2021.

03.01.2022 A huge congratulations to our wonderful Year 12 Drama students who have recently completed their HSC practical exams. We are thrilled to have just been informed that 3 performances have been nominated for ONSTAGE, the NESA showcase for outstanding HSC work. 03.01.2022 As result of the Government and Department of Education (DoE) announcement, parents/carers have been encouraged to keep their child at home from Tuesday 24 March to support the community response to COVID-19. The schools doors will remain open for those students whose parents are in the essential services or who are vulnerable. From tomorrow WEDNESDAY 25 March 2020 the SGGHS Continuity of Learning Plan (CLP) for remote learning and communication will be enacted. The SGGHS CLP Information and all Faculty CLPs will be available to students and parents/carers via the Sentral Student/Parent Portal/Resources/Continuity of Learning/Faculty CLP tomorrow morning at 8:30am.
