23.01.2022 Staff Spirit Fridays Kerry Pemberton, Year 5 Teacher I feel it a great privilege to be a teacher at St Hilda’s. Building self-esteem, allowing students to understand their learning style and acknowledging that mistakes help us to learn are essential elements of my teaching ethos. I hope to inspire in my students the desire to be life-long learners, to reach their potential and to dream big. I know that I can make such a difference in a child’s life, and I love this opportunity. Teaching to me is the best job in the entire world.
23.01.2022 Thank you to the Year 11 parents and staff who generously gave their time in creating the Enchanted Garden for the Year 11 dance earlier this Term. The School Hall was transformed and looked beautiful!
23.01.2022 Unfortunately due to COVID-19, our Year 9 students were unable to attend Camp in 2020. To make up for this, Head of Year 9, Katherine Bowran, organised an Activity Day at the end of Week 7, Term 4. Held over two days, the girls participated in Survivor challenges, had a MasterChef Cake decorating contest, enjoyed a movie session and finished with a Silent Disco. The girls had so much fun and it was great to see them unwind and relax at the end of the school year.

21.01.2022 On Friday 13 November, Girls from both Junior School and Senior School competed in the WA RoboCup Competition. The event is an integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics, which challenges teams of students to design, build and program a robot, or robots. In the ‘On Stage Performance Event’ a team’s robot must perform, while in the ‘Senior Rescue Event’ students must program a robot to identify victims within re-created disaster scenarios. Our G...irls not only had a fantastic and entertaining day, enjoying the adrenaline rush which follows a great performance, but a number of our teams achieved outstanding results. All the St Hilda’s teams put in a lot of hard work prior to the event, and on the day they acted as excellent ambassadress for our school and especially as leaders in the area of STEAM. Special congratulations to Junior School girls; Genevieve, Natalie, Amelia, Molly and Sienna (Year 5 & 6), from team Lorax, and Arielle, Esme and Lara (Year 6) from team Mary Poppins who were invited back to the State Finals. As well as our Senior School girls; Alexandra and Janica (Year 7), who won 1st place, with their robotic performance receiving high praise from the judges for the complexity of their robot designs and programming, and Kaitlyn, Misha and Amy (Year who finished in 1st place in the Senior Rescue event. All 5 of our Senior School teams were also invited back to the State Finals. Congratulations girls!
19.01.2022 Congratulations to the Class of 2020 on their outstanding Year 12 results. We are extremely proud of your achievements, not only academically, but across all facets of your schooling experience. As a cohort who led the spirit of St Hilda’s through a global pandemic, we know you are ready for wherever your journey will take you to next. Enjoy celebrating girls!
18.01.2022 Staff Spirit Fridays Helen Walker, Head of Science "Science is the tool we use to understand the amazing world around us from the smallest particles to the far reaches of space. Our students bring a natural curiosity to the classroom so providing them with opportunities to experiment, investigate, analyse and extend their understanding means every day is different. Sparking interest in a new branch of Science, helping a student to problem solve their way through a tricky chemical calculation or witnessing the moment when a new concept ‘clicks’ are all moments that make teaching this subject truly rewarding!"
17.01.2022 On Saturday 21 November, our Year 9 rowers completed a 2.8km time trial regatta at Canning Bridge with all IGSSA Rowing schools. 16.01.2022 During Term 4 the Year 5 students watched a short documentary film called 'Caine's Arcade'. The film features a boy who creates arcade games from cardboard boxes at his dad's garage over the summer holidays. During STEAM lessons, the students collaborated to design and make their own arcade games. They enjoyed every moment of the design process and had an amazing 'Cardboard Arcade' afternoon playing all the different games. You can watch the documentary by clicking here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faIFNkdq96U #sthildas #sthildasspirit #STEAM #Year5 #learning
16.01.2022 Staff Spirit Fridays Yann Le Flour, French Teacher With French being my first language, teaching it is like sharing a part of my identity. Students often ask me about my origins and my culture, and I really enjoy being able to spark their curiosity and open their mind."
16.01.2022 St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls Army Cadet Unit were again proud to be associated with the Mosman Park RSL on Remembrance Day. Together with LT Angie Ranson, LCPL Jess Carew-Reid, CPL Lucinda Bartlett and CPL Maddie Hillbeck featured prominently in the service which was a heartfelt display of memories, poems and tributes to our fallen men and women during war times. Mr Ludwig Reitzenstein (current member of the Mosman Park RSL) was very proud to be asked for a photo with... the cadets and applauded the youth of this era, giving praise to their respect well beyond their years. The girls were most impressed with his story about both his grandfathers, one German and one Australian both in their country’s armed forces and how he decided that he would come to Australia, be naturalised in order to serve in the Australian Army. Indeed a proud day for all SHASCU cadets to be part of such an important community event. Lest We Forget.
14.01.2022 Year 7 students were studying 'Hidden Histories of St Hilda's' during Humanities. Some of the students discovered that previous St Hilda's Principal, Miss Parnell would play tennis with the students to get to know them. With their task to bring the history to life to tell a story, Mrs Johnston kindly agreed to help the girls out by playing some tennis. Mrs Johnston then showed the girls her office and the history behind it. You'll find a picture of the old tennis courts below!

08.01.2022 Year 6 students showcased their economic skills yesterday as they prepared to shut down their $2 project assignment. Earlier in the term each student was given $2 capital to start a business with all profits going towards a chosen charity. The market day provided an opportunity to ‘off load’ all leftover stock and use their bargaining skills to close their business with as much profit as possible.

03.01.2022 Staff Spirit Fridays Razina Dowson, Administrative Assistant - Boarding "I’ve had the privilege of working in the St Hilda’s Boarding House for the last 7.5 years. No two girls are the same, and getting to watch them grow as women is so rewarding. Many girls with different personalities living together keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn’t have it any other way."
