25.01.2022 We recently delivered the last of the large signs for the Kart track including changeable lap counter boards, 3-face flag point identification frames and Canteen Menu Boards with blackboard panels for prices. A bit of everything! Thanks to Bede and GSCC for this job.

25.01.2022 Another Subaru refresh for RallySchool today. The design is a variation to the last blue Subaru with the light blue crescent background from a couple of weeks ago. But first, the back story:

19.01.2022 Nearly 100 of the Kart Complex signs complete. The smaller, more difficult ones finished, just the big ones to go and these can actually be easier and less fiddly. Weeding is much faster and application is often no harder.

18.01.2022 This shows the process to apply Application Tape to the cut vinyl. This tape allows the vinyl to be applied accurately and relies on the relative strengths of the adhesives on the tape and the vinyl. The vinyl has a strong adhesive but does not stick well to it's paper carrier due to a layer of silicon on the paper. The adhesive on the tape is strong enough to pickup the vinyl from the paper. However when the graphic is applied to the final substrate (sign panel, vehicle etc.) It's adhesive is stronger than that on the tape so the tape can then be easily removed leaving the vinyl firmly in place.

17.01.2022 These unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures. We have purchased a massive digital printer capable of printing 2500mm wide by whatever length on rolls of various digital media like sticker and banner material. But, it also prints directly onto flat material such as composite panel, corflute, etc at up to 2500x1200mm. I expect it will take a couple of weeks to setup and I have some architectural work for it already. Let me know what you need printed!

17.01.2022 This is an initial artwork mockup of an idea a customer has for his Subaru racecar. We will update this with any variations he suggests and then we can quote on doing the job and organise installation. The car looks faster already!!

17.01.2022 Here is a look at the process of "weeding" out the unwanted vinyl after the vinyl stock has been cut on the cutting machine. A layer of Application Tape is then laid over the letters and used to transfer the letters to the final surface.

15.01.2022 Some time ago we prepared design artwork mock-ups for a new travelling bar business to be based out of a retro Bedford truck. Construction and fitout of the truck was completed and the branding of the business was released - introducing The Dusty Cockatoo! We confirmed the layout and fonts, produced the graphic elements and installed them on-site. And we think it looks great.... 15.01.2022 The final step is to apply the graphic to its final location. This generally involves accurate measurement for correct placement so I sometimes create a pre-measured jig like this for making multiple identical signs.

12.01.2022 Quick job for a customer who has recently built himself a rally car. It has been raining the last few days which causes the Application Tape and the backing paper to wilt and curl. This does not affect the quality but it is unsightly. Fortunately the car is only a Peugeot :-)

09.01.2022 We have always enjoyed creating retro historic artwork and logos for restored vehicles but this one is a little different. This owner has a sense of humour and has restored a 1972 Leyland P76 for charity bash events. We designed the artwork is based on a limited run variant called the Targa Florio originally produced only in dark blue duco with silver stripes. However, the P76 is perhaps best known for being able to fit a 44-gallon drum in it's boot. So here we have the "Targ...a Forty-4". It's first event is the Motor Neurone Disease charity rally through Victoria this month. The team has already raised $16000 for this worthy cause and we wish them all the best for the event!

08.01.2022 I thought I might take you through the method of producing Cut Vinyl Graphics. The first steps involve the Design and Approval process and more information on this is available on our website. Once that process is complete we commence Production. The design files are reviewed for scale and separated into individual elements for each colour. Pieces are nested to suit the vinyl roll size and sent to the Cutter

07.01.2022 Here is the Vinyl Cutter in action. It is the equivalent of an XY plotter with adjustable cutting pressure and depth. The pressure and maximum depth are carefully set so that the blade cuts through the vinyl but not through the carrier paper liner underneath.
