25.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for your support as I retraced Bernard OReillys steps on the Stinson Walk in this 80th anniversary year. I now have even deeper respect for Bernard and all the other heroes for what they did. Donations can still be made online to charity Drug ARM until the end of this month, and you can see here how many dollars have been donated https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health The OReilly familys favourite documentary Miracle of the Mountains (60th commemoration edition) by John Schindler can still bought through me for recommended retail $25 of which $10 John has kindly said goes to Drug ARM. Please message me with your details.
24.01.2022 Fifth last day training before the big hike, a hilly 7km pre-dawn and a couple of male King Parrots followed me home. Support is really appreciated https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health
24.01.2022 Three hauntingly beautiful locations on this iconic Australian walk Echo Point at dawn, the Stinson wreck site, and the rainforest grave of Jim Westray. See here for how much has been donated to Drug ARM https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health
23.01.2022 O'Reilly's rescue heroics continue to make headlines including in this the 80th anniversary year. I'll be retracing his footsteps in September to raise money for Drug ARM. Please donate here https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health
23.01.2022 Great to see Brisbane's Brisbane Big City Barbecue at City Hall this Friday also supporting my Stinson Hike for Health's chosen charity DRUG ARM !
23.01.2022 I went to the Lamington National Park today for a short 8km rainforest training walk, sat with 2,000-year-old Brush Box trees, chilled by Elabana Falls, and importantly visited the Stinson memorial and replica plane used in the movie. Im walking in September for the 80th anniversary year of the crash to raise money for Drug ARM Australasia, so please donate today and follow my training progress. https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health
22.01.2022 Buy Bernard O'Reilly's book Green Mountains (first published in 1940) which includes his own account of finding the lost Stinson aeroplane.
21.01.2022 Back to Mt Coot-tha this morning for 18km of steep climbs before breakfast.
21.01.2022 Training continues, and today I enjoyed the 7 waterfalls, 5 creek crossings, 12 kilometres, and the giants of the rainforest, on the Box Forest circuit in the Lamington National Park. Im training to retrace the historic Stinson rescue in September to raise funds for Drug ARM. Please help reduce the harms of alcohol and other drugs and donate here https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health
21.01.2022 I love a good story and passion, and today I met both in documentary maker John Schindler. He loves telling the story of those who deserve to be recognised, and he does so with gusto, including his 1987 50th anniversary documentary, and its 1997 60th anniversary edition, of the Stinson rescue Miracle of the Mountains. John has offered to support my fundraising for Drug ARM with DVD sales of the documentary. For every Miracle of the Mountains DVD sold through me at $25 (s...ame as in the shops), $10 of that goes to Drug ARM. Its the documentary that the OReilly family themselves acknowledge as the best, and even includes family members in the re-enactments. Please email me on [email protected] to arrange payment and postage. I could easily have spoken with John all day, such was my fascination with his endless stories of life and the people hes met. He still has two more documentaries to make, from interviews he filmed with two old Australian diggers who have since passed away. He owes it to them. In September, Im retracing the footsteps of Bernard OReilly who 80 years ago this year set out alone and found the smouldering wreck of the crashed Stinson plane in the McPherson Range, 10 days after it had disappeared, and so saving the lives of two men. Please donate to Drug ARM here https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health to help others build better lives. Follow the progress on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pg/StinsonHikeForHealth Read more about Johns documentaries on his website http://schindler.com.au/documentary_production

18.01.2022 Ten days after it was lost in 1937, Bernard O'Reilly found the downed plane in the MacPherson Range. The discovery made news around Australia and the world. I'm retracing Bernard's footsteps and raising funds to support the healthy lifestyle promoted by Drug ARM Australasia. Your donation here will make a difference to lives everywhere. https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health

14.01.2022 Despite the amazing feat he'd achieved and saving the lives of two men, Bernard O'Reilly was a reluctant hero, and so won the admiration and facination of the Australian public. That admiration and pride in the man remains 80 years on.

09.01.2022 Come join me in September
07.01.2022 Please SIGN-UP and donate to Drug ARM now to support a healthy lifestyle. FOLLOW this site to share with others. The big walk is the 9th of September 2017. I was aged 4 or 5 and wide-eyed when I sat cross-legged right at the front of a rickety lift-up screen, a slideshow of old photos, and an old man quietly telling me of the jungle rescue that made him a hero. I wanted to go on that hike, but Dad said no, it was too far. That man was Bernard OReilly, who 30 years earlier be...came a national hero by setting out on his own mission to find the wreck of a Stinson aircraft in the early days of Australian commercial flight. He rescued 2 survivors, found the remains of 5 others, and won the admiration of a nation. This year on the 9th of September 2017, 50 years on and in the 80th anniversary year of Bernards heroic trek, Im retracing his footsteps. Ill be attempting 37 kilometres through steep rainforest jungle climbs and creek crossings, in a single day. Im doing the walk to promote a healthy lifestyle and the valuable work of Drug ARM Australasia to reduce the harms of alcohol and other drugs. Please donate to Drug ARM here https://give.everydayhero.com/au/stinson-hike-for-health Your donation is tax deductible and youll be issued with the tax receipt you need. Every dollar donated goes towards supporting Drug ARMs otherwise unfunded community programs. Thank you so much for your support. Regards, Harold Peacock

04.01.2022 Starting out at 4am, we hiked a serious 37km in 13 1/2 hours on a single day, through Queenslands Green Mountains in the Lamington National Park the most beautiful rainforest on the planet. And then the most haunting, the site of the tragic Stinson Crash of 80 years ago in 1937, recalling the heroics of the rescuers, survivors, and victims, as we went. Thank you to all those who got me there, retracing the steps of Bernard OReilly who very few in the world get to complete. #StinsonWalk2017 Thank you for your supporting the charity Drug ARM as I trained for and completed this iconic Australia bush climb. In September Harold is retracing the footsteps of national hero Bernard OReilly when he found the Stinson plane crash in rugged rainforest in the McPh...erson Range in 1937. 01.01.2022 Himalayan Yaks will be carrying the heaviest load now that another Queensland family-owned business Footgear has jumped on board the money-raising effort for the charity Drug ARM Australasia. Footgear director John Harrison this week arranged for Brisbane's Queens Plaza store manager Lianne to fit hiking boots for Harold Peacock who is hiking 37 kilometres through dense rainforest in one day to raise money for Drug ARM to reduce the harms of alcohol and other drugs. In Septem...ber hes retracing the footsteps of Bernard OReilly who 80 years ago this year set out alone and found the smouldering wreck of the crashed Stinson plane in the McPherson Range, 10 days after it had disappeared, and so saving the lives of two men.
