18.01.2022 Congratulations to Connie on receiving Golden Child for May 2020 Learning I have observed Connies focus to the experiences in the kindy room since she has been in there. The children are clearly enjoying the curriculum she is providing. Caring... I received feedback from a parent with regards to the cleanliness and presentation of the kindy room. He said he had really noticed a difference with being able to return to entering the centre again. Sharing This month Connie has shown support to all the staff as we have had some major changes happening in the centre. She has taken on the role of the kindies room educator with pride and the room always seems engaged and happy when I enter it. She is always ready to give a helping hand when needed no matter what the task may be. See more

18.01.2022 The winner of the September/ October Golden child award is Amber. Amber received 4 nominations making her the standout winner. Although nominations covered all three core values, the consistent core value was Sharing. Feedback received... Amber has shown me that she is very interested in gardening and sustainability. Her goal is to make the centre so sustainable that all we need to purchase in shopping is meat. I love seeing Ambers face light up when I bring in things for the garden. She has encouraged and engaged the children in her passions and they have loved every minute of it too. Amber has really embraced bringing her passion to work. Amber has completed the life cycle of the pumpkin with the children using the seeds from the pumpkin in the kitchen, growing these to seedlings to now planting in the garden beds. Amber has sourced recycled items to complete all these steps. Amber is a new staff member at the centre and since she started has shown so much enthusiasm in getting a vegetable garden started at the centre. She has started growing veges from seeds indoor and then researched where she could get recycled materials to transplant the veges outdoors. This passion and best practice should be commended. Amber enthusiastically shares her passion for gardening with the children. The enthusiasm she shows has shown through in the childrens joy in participating and learning more about what they are planting and watching it grow.

17.01.2022 Come along tomorrow and see what Acacia Hill is all about

17.01.2022 Does your child want to read the same books over and over? . Whilst as parents, it might drive us just a little crazy, repetition of the same books over and ove...r again has so many educational benefits. . 1. Helps build vocabulary: reading that same book helps to cement connections between words and pictures, giving vocabulary a boost. . 2. Connections between words + language: overtime, your child is starting to make the association between that jumble of words on the page and what you are saying. They start to understand that those are words being spoken. . 3. Helps letter and word recognition: if you are pointing to each word in turn, then your child will start to make the connection. They will start to recognise familiar letters and words, resulting in them learning to read in the future. . 4. Helps story comprehension: being able to read is only one part of reading. Comprehension (understanding) is really important and the more you read the same book, the more they understand the messages. . 5. Shows how to form phrases and sentences: overtime, your child will start to understand that words written together form phrases and sentences. Familiar books help cement that understanding. . 6. The familiarity is comforting: sometimes children just need the comfort of knowing exactly how the story is going to end. See more

15.01.2022 MEDIA ALERT Sunday 29th March 2020 Western Australian Early Learning Centres (Childcare) need assistance NOW... Over 70,830 Western Australian families are facing the immediate (and potentially permanent) collapse of Early Learning (Childcare) services, as providers fight to keep their doors open to support 99,180 Western Australian children and the thousands of educators who care for them. We appreciate the Prime Ministers acknowledgment of the essential service childcare plays as a very high-to the top of priority consideration and that we are an integral part of our economy". What we need is support packages put in place immediately to keep centres viable. This week alone, we have attendances drop to the point of no return. Childcare centres have hit a financial wall and bankruptcy looms. Services are unable to waive Gap Fee payments (co-contribution for families) unless they are directed to close. We need the Government to scrap the co-contribution (Gap Fee) for families immediately and to pay the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) for all of the children who were attending our centres from March 01. This simple first step comes at no additional cost to the Government and must be enacted NOW Childcare centres are being told to stay open, yet Ministers are telling parents to keep children home. Services and families being hurt by non-attendance on last day of care. We need Government to waive this condition NOW to help families that have removed their child/ren as per Ministers instructions. With mass exodus of families from Early Learning Services this week alone, services are closing, and job losses will top 200,000 across the country unless funding is made available NOW. Whilst the Government has offered a range of financial support packages the administration of the application process means that the funds are being delayed by weeks. The Government needs to assist services to not only assist in paying staff but to operate day to day. The CCS alone without the Gap Fee is not enough to continue to pay staff and operating costs. Families need to know in this time that when they return to work, that their children will come back to the same service, staff and high-quality care that they have relied upon. The mental wellbeing of our children during and after this time is of the highest priority, for this to happen Government needs to step in NOW. Early Learning (childcare) is one of the linchpins of our economy enabling parents to work and contribute to our society and economy. If significant support is not offered immediately, these essential support services will be forced to close, with a mass lay off of educators, and many are unlikely to ever re-open. The economic impact for the State to recover will be even harder without these essential services. ACAWA calls upon both the Federal Government as well as the State Government to step in immediately to support the sector. Media enquiries: Rachelle Tucker 0433 498 147/ Nesha Hutchinson 0412 085 068 BACKGROUND As the Western Australian peak body. 07.01.2022 A big congratulations to Ashleigh our winner of the April Golden Child Award This is what her peers had to say..... Everyday Im learning a lot from Ashleigh. She is an amazing leader. If I have any problems regarding my work, she always gives me a better solution. She always wears a smile on her face. Ashleigh takes care of everything relating to staff and families. She loves to share her ideas which helps me in setting up different experiences for the children. As a newly q...ualified educator, under her guidance, I am learning a lot from her. Her caring nature motivates us to come to work every day. When we share ideas she enriches them with her ideas and experiences. Ex: I informed her about my idea of making a shopping corner in the room using recycled boxes that I have collected. Then she shared her experiences and enriched that idea saying she can print money which children would love to use when they are doing shopping. Best thing is, she has already printed them for me to implement my plan. Ashleigh is so caring towards everyone. Ashleigh shares heaps of information to everyone. See more

01.01.2022 A big congratulations to Analiza. You have shown us all you are an all rounder focusing on ALL of our core values. Well Done Caring - Analiza always show care for every child and she gives them lots of cuddles and love. Anna is always happy and shows care towards both the children and her peers. It is a lovely vibe that Anna gives off at all times and this is clear to see when she is with the children. Her caring nature puts them at ease and settles them. Sharing - Anna is... always proactive about her work and takes initiative when in the room. She supports the actions of the room by always being willing to help. Learning - Analiza shows dedication to her job and expanding her own personal knowledge, familiarising herself with Acacia Hills policies and procedures. Each morning Analiza is seen reading up on and writing notes about understanding and learning the policies and procedures. Analiza uses her personal time to expand her learning to care for the children at Stirling with the best respect and care. Anna is a keen learner always wanting to learn things where she is unsure. Ive noticed she arrives to work early to read through and gain an understanding of our policies and procedure
