23.01.2022 A message from our Vicar Graeme Peters: this is the proposed new Parish Centre, a response sheet is provided on the website as a PDF for you to fill in or email [email protected]. It has been hard in these COVID times to talk to people personally or to have a meeting where we can present the proposals, so I have put together this video to take you through the proposal. Remember, we want to hear your opinions and it is very important that you return the response... sheet. God bless https://www.stjamesdandenong.com/parish-centre-plans

20.01.2022 PASTORAL CARE AND SUPPORT At the moment we are not allowed to visit people for normal pastoral care, but the clergy are allowed to visit for pastoral emergencies such as end of life situations and the death of a loved one. However, we are keen to support our congregation through this difficult time but we can’t always know who is in need unless you tell us. The church is happy to help those who are doing it tough. We may not be able to help with everything, but we will do what we can. If you are in need of material, spiritual or emotional support, please contact us via pm. Also, please make good use of your phones to keep in touch with each other through this time. It can get quite lonely for people who are by themselves and isolated. We can all provide some support to each other.

13.01.2022 Keep up to date with our Parish News available weekly online or via email. COVID UPDATE We all heard last Sunday’s announcements on the roadmap out of COVID. The Archbishop’s COVID update this week states: Until 28 September, churches and church buildings remain closed. From 28 September, outdoor gatherings on church property of up to five people plus a clergyperson are possible, but not for a service. From 26 October this will be eased to ten people, include outdoor services, and private prayer inside the church would be possible within limits. At this stage, indoor services cannot resume until at least 23 November. This is probably not the news we wanted to hear, but it is what we must do for the welfare of our community and out of respect for our authorities who face incredibly difficult decisions.

09.01.2022 It’s our Patronal Festival this Sunday. We celebrate the feast of St James, Apostle and Martyr, the brother of John, and one of the early church’s first martyrs. We are delighted to have Bishop Paul Barker with us sharing God’s word, presiding over the Lord's table, and joining us for our zoom morning tea on Sunday Morning. This year, due to the COVID19 restrictions we can’t do what we would normally do, but let us do our best to make this an extraordinary celebration and to... show that St James Dandenong will not be defeated by a virus or by anything else. We may be restricted in movement, but we are not restricted in passion to serve Christ and to celebrate his love for us. We invite you all to watch and participate at home our pre-recorded service which will be available on our church website from 9am Sunday or via the link that is emailed to you. Then at 11am, get some nice morning tea together, get dressed up in national dress, if you wish, as a celebration of the tremendous cultural diversity we have at St James and join us in a Zoom morning tea. Please pm or send email [email protected] for zoom details. If you would like some help with accessing zoom, please let us know via email [email protected] before Sunday, someone will ring you to go over the steps.
