25.01.2022 It is with great sadness that I wish to inform all past members who had the pleasure of knowing Br Daniel if his sudden passing today. Such a wonderful and gentle person who was much loved by many. I will always remember my times spent with him at Blaxland and sneaking off for a chat down the back. He will be sadly missed by many including me RIP Br Daniel McEwan

25.01.2022 Every day, in every part of Australia, there are countless people who work tirelessly for their communities - not to receive praise but to help those around the...m. Mr John Spencer AM is a remarkable example. For 65 years he has served St John Ambulance Australia and his community. Today the Governor-General presented him with the Order of St John Ultra Long Service Medal. Her Majesty The Queen is the only other person to have been presented the award. The Governor-General congratulated Mr Spencer and, on behalf of all Australians, thanked him for his service and commitment. St John Ambulance

18.01.2022 International Youth Day - 12 August 12 August was first designated International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999, and serves as an annual celebr...ation of the role of young women and men as essential partners in change, and an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world’s youth. The theme of International Youth Day 2020, Youth Engagement for Global Action seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.

"I joined St John Ambulance back in 1996 after completin...g a first aid course at High School. Having a passion to help people I thought it would be the right stepping stone on the way to achieve my goal of becoming a registered nurse and paramedic. I signed up to support this COVID deployment so that I could help, educate and care for my community during this pandemic." See more

10.01.2022 When our mascot Kura the Bear said her American cousin knows CPR, we were stunned! Turns out this grizzly bear thinks CPR applies to inanimate objects too... on... the plus side her depth, rate and release are pretty good! When performing CPR on a patient, ensure you complete 30 chest compressions to 2 breaths. You can practice on a bin if you like, but we'd much prefer you come and practice on one of our CPR mannequins instead (way more hygienic too!). Video owned by: Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Centre, Montana.

04.01.2022 COVID-19 has forced us all to reflect on how we can do things safer from a hygiene point of view. We've actually had a lot of people ask us if it's still safe t...o perform CPR during this COVID-19 and the answer is - YES! If you have access to a face shield (for administering breaths), please use them. Otherwise provide chest compressions and withhold the breaths unless performing on a family member or instructed to do so by a Triple Zero (000) call taker.
