22.01.2022 Please be careful - it’s stinger season in the Top End. St John NT has responded to two jellyfish stings in the last two days. The sting from a jellyfish can be excruciatingly painful and the venom from a box jellyfish can be deadly. Ideally the best approach is to avoid the sea water during stinger season or to wear protective clothing in the water. If stung, pour vinegar on the area of the sting to stop further discharge from the stinging cells, do not wash with fresh water, and seek medical assistance.

03.01.2022 Being prepared for an emergency is almost in our DNA - thank you to Red Cross for taking the Parap Cadets through the Pillowcase Program this week. "Research suggests that educating children in disaster preparedness plays a part in creating a culture of preparedness and resilience in the community as a whole. Children are positive change agents within their families and their communities. If given the opportunity to participate, they can make a very real and positive difference before, during and after an emergency."
